Music from movies/film: "Welcome to LA" / "They Live"

For this installment of Music I like from TV or movies -- I bring you "Welcome to LA" by John Carpenter - also the director of the movie it came from called "They Live". About the movie: Nada is a drifter - a blue collar worker in search of a job. Society is in big trouble. Homelessness and unemployment abound. All around - TV is prevalent with images of the good life, fame and items of desire to keep people wanting. Nada discovers a mysterious pair of sunglasses. He puts them on. At first he discovers that the billboards, magazine and shop signs have subliminal messages, only apparent when wearing the sunglasses. Then he discovers that some people, aren't people. "We sleep, they live!" About the music: This song is sparse and moody. A dark bass riff underlies some sparse guitar chords, and harmonica. It fits the theme of the movie perfectly. Despite it's simplicity I enjoy the song a great deal, as I do the movie.

I wouldn't care for that movie at all. Not my type. I do like the music, however.

The music reminds me of a smoky bar/lounge from the 1940's movies I've seen. I'm glad you liked the movie.
