I was a grumpy old lady again this morning. I complained to my husband about how much pain I had in the night, and how often I got up. I just could not imagine why my neck and shoulders and upper back were so very sore. Hubby said "It couldn't have had anything to do with us replacing that car hood yesterday could it?" Of course. We were given a car with 16000 miles on it. The car had sat under some trees for about fourteen years without being driven or protected. He is fixing it up. The hood had some rust spots, so hubby got a different one to replace it, from a junkyard. Yesterday was the day it got replaced. This is a two person job. I spent some minutes holding the old hood erect while he loosened the bolts. I spent even MORE minutes holding the newer hood erect and in place while the bolts were reinserted. Of course my shoulders, neck, arms and back were sore. It is a small car, but still that is more than I am used to doing in that way. Believe it or not, I felt better. Just knowing why I was hurting helped a lot.

It is a little sports car, but I am very out of shape. I also used to do things I should not in the way of lifting, so my right shoulder gets sore easily.

@DianneN You must walk very vigorously. I know working out lets you enjoy the food that goes along with all these celebrations.

After remembering this, I took some naproxen. It helped immensely. If I had remembered what I had been doing all day, I would have taken it at bedtime last night. I will probably take some acetaminophen tonight, as that is what my doctor prefers I take most of the time. I just need a good night's sleep with no pain.

Usi,g those muscles that don't get used a lot is rough. I take a muscle relaxer a couple nights in a row and find it helps. Hate the brainfog you get the next day.

I have a new recipe for a body scrub with Epsom salts.

@celticeagle It is a sugar scrub. One cup sugar, one cup Epsom salts, I cup oil of choice (coconut, jojoba, olive, almond, etc.) Put in 20 drops essential oils or more to your liking. The example was made specifically as a foot scrub and had peppermint. Massage into a clean dry body or feet, let set ten minutes then rinse off.

That would make the pain less of a pain and more tolerable.

Yes, the guy that gave it to us was tired of it sitting in his back yard. His wife had bought it for her twin sister, and we do not know why she quit driving it.

I know exactly how you feel! I am very scared, specially now that I have several ailments, when I have a new pain. But if I can understand why it is, I relax, accept it and it finally goes away.

Replacing the hood surely took some doing and you must have not done such a laborious work for some time,so you had pain at night.

Yes, even though it was a small car, I had to hold the hood upright while he put the bolts in place and tightened them down. That was after holding the old one upright while he removed the bolts.
