I missed the Earthquake!

Seems like we just had one an hour ago about 20 miles away. A 3.8 quake struck near Albion Illinois south of me at around 6:45 A.M. Central time. I'm seeing some people from Olney saying they felt it, but I didn't notice anything over the stereo playing, and since I have a suspended turntable, it didn't make the needle skip or anything. I believe there was one in the same area about a week ago...I missed it too. I miss all the fun.

@JolietJake there was a 5 one in Cyprus one time, it woke my husband up, he wakes me up, I told him "you're just dreaming, go back to sleep". Next morning he shows me the news. In Cyprus we have these small ones quite often, to the point I got used to them I guess.

I hung it to isolate it from acoustical feedback caused by the subwoofer vibrations when I really crank it up, but you can stand here and jump up and down as hard as you want without any problems whatsoever. Of course, a tornado knocking the house down would still make it skip.

It seems like they're really easy to miss... we had one here several years back that was about the same magnitude, and I didn't feel a thing. There was one when I was a kid that I felt in Phoenix, though. It was in the middle of the night and the epicenter was somewhere in California. All I really remember is that the dog went nuts and I stood up and the ground was kind of gently rolling. Everyone else in the house thought I was imagining it until the morning news came on.

@JolietJake I was seeing that! We haven't had that many in AZ in the past year, but I was surprised by how many there are away from the major California/west coast fault lines. Then again, there have been quite a few stories recently about how much of an impact fracking is having on the quakes in places that historically haven't had to worry about those things...
