The last apple has fallen but I have had a lot of fun finding things to do with all the apples from the tree. One thing that I absolutely enjoy was making dried apples. It is simple and and a great snack. All you need is: 1. Wash and slice the apples. I leave the skin on 2. Place them in a dehydrator if you have one or an oven on low setting will work as well. 3. Leave them and forget about it. I do check occasionally to see how it is going. 4.Takes about two to three days in the dehydrator. 5.Remove place in an airtight container and enjoy. Mine don't last very long as I can't stay away from them. Warning! these dried apple slices are addictive but they are also a great source of nutrition with lots of minerals, vitamins and natural sugar. What is your favorite healthy snack?

Sounds like a wonderful snack - and healthy too. My favorite healthy snack would be grapes, but they are expensive in my country.

I tried to do this once, but perhaps I didn't leave the fruit dry enough, we got mold everywhere in a few days. How long did you keep yours in the oven may I ask? (I would love to try again.)

I have a dehydrator which dries the fruit. It works on very low heat and takes about 2 to three days. When done they can be stored in a container and lasts a long time - can't say how log because I always finish them within a few weeks. If using an oven just ensure it is crisp. It all the liquid isn't dried it will get mold.

I would love to get a dehydrator--this sounds wonderful! I love nuts and we have an old black walnut tree that still gives us plenty of nuts--and I know that nuts are great for you!

I never think to make dried apples when I have a bunch of apples. Usually I make applesauce and a pie
