Will we ever see winter again in our lifetime?

It is nearly Fall. I believe the 22nd of September marks the beginning of Autumn for 2017. So, where is the cold weather? It has been a very long time since I can remember when by October if a person pinched your ear it would actually smart from being cold while standing outside at a bus stop on the way to school. I tell you what. I won't be buying any new winter clothes this fall. That you can count on. If old man winter shows up I will be ready with my old denim jacket, but if not, I will have to start growing cacti in the yard instead of tomato vines.

I actually put my electric blanket on for the first time last night and now I'm reading that we're about to have a heat wave. Somehow it hasn't got to my area yet because it's still cold. Only in the UK could it feel like winter and then we be told that we're about to get an Indian Summer.

I remember back in Indiana, when this time of year was sweater weather and walks were pleasant and there were places to walk where no cars passed by all day.

@Courtlynn , Well I have my winter wear stuffed in the back of my closet. I might dig some out and launder it to get it ready just in case the temps drop more but now it is just plain humid and hot in Big D.

Our weathr has been weird, wearing sweats in the summer and now in the 70's and 80's. I wont complain because before long I will be hibernating and hating the cold. Along with shoveling the snow.. YUCK!

@Ithink , I would love to but my back is killing me, - on that note, do you have to do the snow shovel thing a lot around your neck of the woods?

Yes we will, and perhaps before you know it. Many serious climatologists think we are headed for another Ice Age by 2030.

If so, I am ready for it. when I was just a boy, I lived up near Michigan, where it sometimes snows in July.

Just now I have noticed it is autumn and several times I needed to put a fire on. My aim is never to do that till November. I have also used hot water bottles and the cherry stone bag thing to keep warm. Yet, here I sit in my Summer dress, thinking of taking off my cardigan. The weather here seems to be behaving about right for a UK autumn but there isn't a riot of golden leaves where I live yet. It sounds like you have a better deal as you still have a Summer where you are.l

Is it more or less the same or is it any warmer or colder than usual? In the USA, the leaves take longer to turn than before by nearly several weeks compared to a few decades earlier. It may be normal for such variations in climate. I don't know enough to say if it is or it isn't.

Have you been getting warm days in winter as well as cool days in summer? Or is the pattern more or less the same?
