Like a flame, or a spark to an engine

I have seen sonograms before, but never in color. I watched the EKG on one side of the room and the sonogram screen on the other. In between those two pieces of equipment were a treadmill and a hospital bed. The crazy sonogram had flashes of red and blue that reminded me of spotlights on a concert stage. There was a broad underlying band of golden zig zags. When the bright lights were not happening, it looked like someone was playing a drum, and then the next minute, my mind could see open ghoulish mouths of ghosts. It all looked so strange as it moved across the screen. On the EKG it looked like rows and rows of decorative zig zag stiches. It reminded me of when mom would do smocking on some fancy dresses. Once in a while it threw a stitch out of line. Strange sensory experience as the observer. On the treadmill hubby ultimately was walking 2.5 mph. on a 12% incline. They said he did great. His heart rate never made it as high as 150. He walked that last bit for 3 minutes, plus three minutes before slower and at a more gentle slope. I will talk about the results tomorrow morning. For now, I need to go to bed.

My sister had to have what they called a "chemical" stress test. That sounds like what you did.

I had not seen one of the heart. I did work in jobs where I took people for medical tests and I have seen sonograms of just about everything else.

@JudyEv I do not usually choose to watch procedures that involve cutting, etc. although I have had opportunity. This was kind of cool.

@GardenGerty It is amazing what they can do nowadays, I took my friend to have laser treatment on her eyes and I could have watched the whole procedure on closed circuit TV if I'd wanted to.

We have come so far with these tests. Hopefully, the results for your husband will be fine. I know the results can look frightening, but having once had an ECG where a big spike was explained as me moving my little finger, I learned not to be terrified. It actually sounds like your husband is fairly fit. Has he been ill?

He had a stroke in June. We were told it was due to some unexplained heart damage. We suspect it was the result of his cancer treatments.

The test results are "no change" in three months. Now we do a heart cath, probably also a pacemaker.
