My life as a hoarder....

When I say i was a hoarder, I don't mean that I was an extreme hoarder, but i did have the mind of one. My house was not packed with stuff all the way to the ceilings, but i did have and keep a lot of things. To me, everything had a purpose. If I couldn't find an immediate purpose, i knew i might find one done the road. My favorite store was the dollar store where everything is $1. I've spent a lot of money there. I stored a lot of my belongings in a storage shed. The positive thing about my hoarding is I was very organized. Everything had its place and 9 times out of 10, I knew where that place was. Over the past couple years I've slowly gotten rid of things and threw around the idea of becoming a minimalist. A minimalist has many definitions but essentially to me it means only having the basic things that you need to survive on. Material things have began to stress me out. Being a minimalist is more of a freedom to me. And over the past couple months I've seriously takin step towards becoming a minimalist. I'll continue tomorrow about my steps towards my knew life. What do you think being a minimalist means? What aspects do you know and do you think you could do it?

Several here have written about this and one member, Lori A. Moore published a book about hoarding. Parker Rose, who many will remember from Bubblews, is also working on a book about living with a hoarder. It sounds like you are working on the issue!

I am for sure working on it. I've gotten to the point where the stuff was just causing stress. I didn't want it anymore.

@TJGray Parker Rose said we should not open bins that were stored, but just put them in a dumpster. Most would have to take a look first!

My Dad was one heck of a hoarder and our house back then was more of a JUNK shop. He kept a lot of stuff. I have earned almost 100$ from the junk we sold back then. And then his hobby didn't change when he went abroad and sent us more than five boxes of JUNK! but some of them were useful.

That's the thought of a hoarder though. Its all useful in one way or another. Hehe. But from an outsider, maybe only 10% of it is. I'm glad you were able to make some money off of it though

I have a blog about minimalism, however, I have not made time to write there much of late. It means to have just enough to be happy.
