Would you have a Robot do your Teeth?

Philippines

There was a news shared to me from the CGN news and it was about a robot that handles dental procedure on a patient. Guess what, it's not a dummy but a REAL live patient . They covered here eyes so she wouldn't see it. In my opinion, I would seriously get scared. It's bad enough that I'm already afraid of my dentist. Aren't they afraid that the robot might malfunctioned right in the middle of the procedure which could cause patient lives? What do you think about this? I wouldn't trust a robot to do my teeth

I am not going to lie. I also would be scared, but everyone needs to be prepared. Most all of our jobs are going to be automated like this. At least definitely looks the way it is going. Not sure how they are going to keep everyone employed, but like they ever really cared about that anyway as long as upper half of the economy works.

Hello @crossbones27 Well, automation should be just part of the production not totally depend on them. You never know if you ran out of power or something. So many AI related machines has replaced man power already.

@crossbones27 That's a huge possibility and if that happens production will stop forcing them to hire people which takes time to teach them.

I would hope there are some failsafes put in so that it would shut off rather than malfunction

Hello @FayeHazel That's a good answer! They could program for an automated shutdown if something goes wrong with the robot. But then the damage would been done still since the patient is lying there still.

A person could mess up and hurt someone they were working on as well but I still would rather a live person clean my teeth then a robot.

Hello @shaggin Well, it probably won't happen everyday. But it would be sad day for any patient to be there when the robot malunctions.

I wouldn't want robots to steal jobs like this. All those dentists who studied for years, they'd be unemployed. Humans can malfunction too, but yes, robots would be a little scarier. However, if it's cheaper than "manpower", I will stick with the robot.

Hello @sabtraversa Robots are worst. Sure they can be perfect and then we get used to them. But then when they malfunctioned in the middle of procedure or surgery then our mouth pays the price. And here I am still scared of human dentist

Maybe those robots handle dental services to patients with full dentures only . . Cleaning and fixing postisos while patients wait outside eating popcorn.

Its good to cover the eyes. Neither the patient would afraid of the robot. If the result is good there is no problem. But Monitoring the robot by a human control is good.

I agree there's always a process of this machine committing an error and it would become permanent of your teeth if that happens @acelawrites

I also hope that in the future, nano-robots will be able to clean up the diseases that exist in our bodies and reduce a lot of pain.
