We call this as "leddeg"- a freshwater snail that people usually gather this season. This our native type of snail and its edible. We like more this specie than the golden one. Darker in color but sweeter in taste. Usually we cook by adding some vegetables like string beans and white turnip fruits. Its a sour taste with lots of unripe tamarind fruit. Its really a sweet meal for us and we really like it. When we eat this, we often call as lips to lips because you need to slurp the flesh inside. Photo is mine

OH! Snails are delicious. Fried snails with pepper and peppermint leaves are often served as a traditional dish in Mid-Autumn Festival and bedtime snacks!

I think that's what we call " kuhol ". there are plenty of that in the ricefields. They are destructive to ricefield owners. Actually, I have experienced helping in taking those Kuhol from the ricefield also their eggs... We can take sacks of them.. and the people already lost appetite in eating them because they are too many...

Maybe what you are referring to is the "golden kuhol" which has beautiful pink eggs. This dont usually thribe in ricefield but in shallow rivers, lakes and ricefields without rice plants. The tail of this snall is longer and the size is smaller than those golden.

This is a favorite of mine although eating it can be a bit of tedious to a newbie. I want my dish extra spicy with chili pepper.

@ilocosboy I just cooked some garden snails. I had some of them in coconut milk while others are baked in butter like the french do.

Yeah I believe so, we love it. After gathering we usually let them crawl in the pan for half to one day to clean their stomach.

I search it in internet and I believe its escargot but with different specie. If you notice the tail of "leddeg" is longer and the color is darker. Now I know its not only us Filipino are having this in the table.

No, I still could not eat a snail. It is amazing what the rest of the world eats. In some places Termites are a delicacy, but I could not eat those either. With snails it possibly is my aversion to shellfish as the texture might be the same. You can keep the snails!
