There was a nest!

the nest

I saw this bird’s nest hidden in the trunk of the tree. This picture was taken last week when we had the case colloquium in school. I was listening to the sweet song of a small yellow-colored bird with the ‘tweeet-tweeet’ that I went out to find it. I told my colleagues that I wanted to pee, which I did before I searched for the bird. And I saw it. It was eating some seeds of a tree, and then it flew back to its nest. I fast-walked and saw it entered its nest, then after a few seconds, it flew away again. I like to see nests in trees. I like to see how sturdy the nests are and how they can withstand strong rains and winds. Too bad I only have my mobile phone to take the shot. Do you find joy in seeing a nest?

I admire the work of those little birds. I have bought several bird houses that I hang in the tree in front of our home.

@ridingbet I hang the bird houses in my trees in the backyard, so the houses are more protected, the yellow birds use those little houses.

so the birds lay their eggs in the birdhouse that you placed in front of your house? birds are architects. i read in our encyclopedia how a bird makes its nest on the ground, and decorating it with any blue object to 'serenade' the love(bird) of his life. it builds 2 walls first with twigs and vines. also a bird building its nest hanging on a tree. i love reading and watching how a nest is made.

Yes, I am also fascinated by nests, I think birds are so clever with the safe homes they make. :)

that makes me wonder why their nests can withstand the weather disturbances. and the newly-hatched bird-lings stay there in their nests while the winds are blowing.

@bluesa yes indeed. even in dry barren lands, they can make a nest out of nowhere

Nests can be well camouflaged. This one certainly is. If I knew where to look I'm sure I'd see it. I think I can see the outline.

yes the nest is that brown thing in the middle.if you can actually see that, you can appreciate the well-formed (circle) opening/entrance of the nest. it was built with dried leaves and small twigs.

i agree. they do not need a ruler or a T-square, or even thread. yet, they make beautiful nests.

@ridingbet Many animals create holes other rely on the natural caves. Only few of them are craters like beavers.

I do. Birds used to make nests in my holly bushes. which amazed me because I would have thought the holly bush would hurt them. Now I have cut down the holly bushes and have a bird feeder which is fun to watch.

I get so delighted whenever I see nests anywhere. I saw some nests in our classroom back in my elementary days and I saw some nests in the church ceiling too.

our mango tree, even though it was trimmed, still yields many nests that are built close to each other. i guess these are the house sparrows, or what we Pinoys call 'house birds'.
