New Jersey Governor Chris Christie (U.S.) this week authorizied the state to spend another 200 million dollars for additional opioid treatment programs. The Governor will be taking funds away from existing state departments and of course taxpayers will also foot the bill for these programs. Some of the monies will be spent on the following: 1. Recovery coaches who help those who survived recent opioid/heroin overdoses. 2. Special housing to support addicts and mother's of addicted children. 3. Medical school programs which will establish a special curriculum on opioid addiction. 4. Special learning programs for elementary school children about the dangers of opioids. Questions of the day: Do you feel this is money well spent and why? Will it be effective in significantly reducing the opioid/herion crisis we face in the United States? It would also be of interest to know how other countries are responding to the opioid/heroin addicition issue? Any personal situations (if you know any) might be useful in furthering this discussion. If you feel like sharing that sort of information. Sources- CBS News & 101.5 FM radio Photo- Google images: drugabuse.com

If they dont get to the root of the problem..like cutting off supply, this is all wasted money. People will always find a way to get it.

I guess it's worth a shot. I've met a few former users. Said getting clean was the hardest thing they've ever done.
