Dog sitting overnight

My ex asked me if I could watch his dog overnight while he and his son (and friends) go kayaking / camping. My kids love getting to spend time with his dog so I said I'd take her. He dropped her off around 4pm. He filled her water dish and left. Immediately she spilled it all over the floor and it took me two big towels to wipe it all up. My son and I took her for a run outside and played in the leaves. She got excited when my daughters friend came in and had an accident on the rug. I tied her out around a tree. The cord or whatever it's called had 30 feet she could walk around the yard. My kids and I (and my daughters friend) went to a bonfire for an hour and a half. It was dark when we got back and we could not see her in the yard. I was scared she slipped the collar and ran off. I ran inside to get a flash light and when I came back out my daughters friend had used her phone as a flashlight and saw her down over the bank. She had wrapped the cord around the tree down the bank and around a smaller tree where apparently she must have just laid. She is such a clumsy dog. I am just so thankful she is safe. Off to bed for me now. I'm going hiking in the afternoon tomorrow after this dog goes home.

It was an adventure, she looks like a nice dog, but it seems she is a bit messy. I am glad you found her.

Most of her messyness comes from lack of bladder control when excited and clumsiness :::sigh::: but she is a nice dog and my kids enjoy playing with her.

@Shellyann36 The older she gets the less trouble she will be. At just under a year old she still has a lot to learn.

@shaggin I know it was. I have looked after one animal for someone just once in my life. It was a nerve-racking experience. I vowed to not do that again. She looks like such a sweet pup but full of mischief too.

Sounds like a nice time bonfires are fun. Did you have any s'mores? Glad to hear the dog was safe when you got home. Hope you enjoy your hiking trip tomorrow.

This bonfire is huge and at the school no one is allowed close enough to do smores. The band plays and cheerleaders cheer but thats about it. Its rather boring so the kids all just run all over the fields playing tag etc. Hiking was awesome! I'm very tired now.

My kids enjoyed spending time with her so it was all worth it. My ex gave each of my kids $5 for helping out with the dog. It made their day!

Exactly! It created an extra load of laundry I had to wash which I don't like as I am trying to do as little laundry as possible because of the water heater smoking when I use the hot water.

She was such a little trouble maker as a puppy this is nothing compared to that. She got so excited this morning when I got the leash to take her outside that she had an accident on the floor/carpet.

She is so much better then when she was a puppy thankfully but she is just so clumbsy. I forgot to write how she kept slipping and falling in the water she spilled while I was trying to clean it up lol.

She really has grown beautiful over time. Sad to know her owner and you no longer connected. I think I've read some of those post..

He and I have broken up many times over the years. This last time was in May. He wanted to try to work things out but his ex never takes his son and he wont do anything with me if the sons around he only wants to spend time with him. I popped out to his house for an hour a few weeks back but besides that I havent seem him since August 26.

He and I broke up in May and didnt talk for many months. It was probably around March I last saw her. She is almost a year now and much better then she used to be. She bit constantly and was naughty and aggressive as a puppy. This is the first time since she was small I have watched her.
