I am being held hostage. Please help me.

I am being helped hostage right now. Someone told me they'd be coming over this morning to buy a pair of Realistic Nova 4 vintage speakers I have on Craigslist. But he didn't say when he was coming. I just called him, but all I got was his message machine. I'd rather be by the pool, grading papers, but I'm being held hostage by my own politeness (and the desire to make a quick $80). Can you free me? Tell me I should just blow it off and go to the pool, papers in hand. Hell, I might even buy a 6-pack of beer. Help me! Help me! Have you ever been in a similar situation, where someone says they MIGHT come over, and you blow off other possible plans to accommodate them? Feh.

Tandy Corp stuff huh? I used to rely on the Shack for most of my electronic needs, but alas there isn't a store anywhere near me these days. Yes, I have been in that position, and ended up wasting time I could have used doing other things...especially 'wasted' when they never showed up.

Alas, it's a part of "cost of doing business" when you sell stuff on Craigslist. I think Radio Shack went teats up. Back in the day, Allied/Radio Shack was a major place to go to buy stereo gear.

Many old Allied and Realistic speakers were made by other companies and were actually pretty good!

@TheHorse I had a set of headphones from them when I was a college radio announcer that were pretty decent, I want to say the model was LV - 10 but I'm not sure, it's been so long ago (Edit) I was right...surprised I remembered that. Evidently they were made by Koss.

I have sold things via the internet in the past. That'd include a near $10,000 motorbike and significantly greater value gold coins. The price to be paid, method of payment, place of payment was agreed beforehand. If they deviated from this I would never deal with them again and would leave factual bad feedback. In this case I'd respectfully suggest the fault is partly yours. Lock in a potential buyer to a specific time and place.

I'm not going to worry about it too much. We'll find a time when we're both available. I'm going to hit the pool after lunch. This morning, I've been alternating between MyLot and papers on my bed. I had Keith Jarrett on the stereo, so life was good. With big ticket items like you describe, no flakes allowed.

@TheHorse you're more easy going than me I sold via ebay a few years ago (7+) and had no issues things went smooth I sold my bike to someone in scotland through ebay...he paid a deposit and a transport cost and I hired a van and drove the bike up there and it was actually a very nice experience

The postmen or express couriers are always like that, you're lucky enough if they tell you the day. That's quite inconsiderate of his, he could have at least told the time of the day, more or less, so you can be free for a few hours.

That's a good example. Comcast fix-it guys too. Fortunately, couriers generally leave my packages by the door.

I won't spoil my plans for a 'might'. If it was a definite 'I'll be there'. then I might consider it.

@MALUSE That was taken at my Auntie's pool on Long Island. When I swim here, it's often with my 8-year-old buddy, who lives two doors down. I may slip out in secret now, as I really do want to get some papers done.

When I ran the animal shelter on my property @TheHorse , it was by appointment only. Some of those yabi-hoobers would show up whenever they felt like it instead. And then after me waiting for 3 or 4 hours they would show up and then not adopt an animal. Grrrrrrrrr

I can't abide rude people like that. It's so frustrating waiting. I posted an item for sale on a local on line yard sale and a woman messaged me that she was interested. When I asked when she wanted to see it, she said she was just kidding. I told her she needed to get a life.
