The credit for this countdown goes to @NJChicaa , who had the idea of doing a series based upon MTV Unplugged. I really didn't get to watch that show very often, so I am going with my Favorite Acoustic Songs (remember, it's "favorites," not necessarily "best.") We are at #4: "Dancing Barefoot" as performed by The Mission. I say "as performed by" because "Dancing Barefoot" is originally a Patti Smith tune, from her Todd Rundgren-produced 1979 album, Wave (Rundgren also played bass on the song.) "Dancing Barefoot" was the second of three singles from Wave, and while I've found no evidence of any chart action, it is a song that definitely made it's mark on contemporaries. Among the many bands and artists that have covered the song are U2, who took it to #14 on Billboard's Alternative chart, The Mission, Xymox, Simple Minds, and Concrete Blonde leader Johnette Napolitano. I've even seen The Church cover it in concert. I'm linking to my favorite version, by my favorite band, The Mission (go figure.) Enjoy! (Info verified by Wikipedia)

Doesn't sound anything like "Goodbye to You" or "Sometimes Love Just Ain't Enough"....oh, wait, wrong Patti Smith. Great version.

I remember when she started calling herself "Patti Smythe" to avoid confusion.

You're going to make me do my own Unplugged countdown and I don't do music stuff! Nah I couldn't. I could probably only come up with like 4 or 5 Unplugged shows.
