Oh, Sleep Please Come Back To Me!

Last night, after urinating at about 3:00 a.m. I couldn’t sleep anymore.
I just lay in bed and closed my eyes. I put on my blindfold, because the light would make me awake, but to no avail. I would toss and turn and even would hold the hands of my sleeping husband.
I was wondering why, when I had my coffee just in the morning yesterday.
I didn’t get my phone to play a game because I know it will make me more awake.
I just counted my inhales and exhales just like what I am doing, to catch a power nap after lunch.
Well, I was able to sleep eventually but I know it was for about an hour because I saw the luminous hands of the clock when I was already so sleepy pointed at 4:00 a.m.
I intentionally was late at work this morning because I had to catch my lost sleep.
Have you ever experienced not being able to sleep? What did you do so you can fall asleep again?

And I cannot help but think of my previous post that when you are awake at 3:00 in the morning, which is considered by some people as the "witching hour", it meant that somehow a spirit has awaken me. Though, I don't believe it, lest I will get scared.

I have terrible insomnia, so I normally just start working on my computer if I cannot count down and sleep.

I regularly wake up at 4:00 a.m.All I do is to read for a while, more often than not ,I can get back to sleep.Sometimes I have a hard time getting to sleep,I then press the acupoint "Zusanli" for 2 minutes,it does it work.
A key knee acupressure point is the zusanli point; see what happens when you touch this point, which can balance your energy..

I guess that's how it is when one gets old. They wake up so early, then after a while they can go back to sleep. But that is not good for those who will go to work the next day.
Oh, thank you so much for this link. Now, I know what to do when I cannot sleep yet even if I want to already.

@changjiangzhibin89 I urinate at least 5 times at night but I always sleep after that. This night was an exception and I just don't know why.

that is the problem of my sister, but not for me. i nod even while watching TV at night (sis goes up earlier than me), then when i go up to my room at 10:30PM, play CC a while on the phone, i eventually sleep like the boa constrictor until i awaken from the alarm of my phone at 4;30 and 4:45AM.

@ridingbet Oh, she plays the crush, so that is why the more that she can't sleep. The light from the screen activated her brain more, making her not feel sleepy yet.

@SIMPLYD she goes to her room early with the hope that she sleeps early, but no. she usually gets fully awake when he is in her room, often goes out when she hears some noise in the sala or outside. oftentimes, i berate her to just sleep, but she plays the crush, 'to get her sleep' daw.

I experienced sleeplessness since my surgery last fall until recently. Then I started turning off TV and computers an hour or more before going to bed, taking valerian and Getting into bed by ten and reading an hour. I still don't get the sound sleep I would like but I'm sleeping better. Also after turning out the light, I meditate to clear my mind.

Actually, the light coming from those gadgets and TV as well as a turned on light inside the bedroom, would make one awake. The light activates the brain. Thus, sleep would not come.
But when every light is out, sleep can eventually come. As for me, I would just lie down in bed and pray until I get sleepy again.

That's good , because reading a book while lying in bed can make us sleepy eventually. I also do this before. I read verses from the Holy Bible.
Sadly, now I instead play a game that sometimes would make me not fall asleep as early as 11;00 in the evening.

@Lizirazo Precisely playing games on your phone won't let you sleep. The light activates the brain that's why.
I just play when I am in a jeepney going home from work. It's the only extra time I have. Night time is bonding time with my hubby and texting our daughter in a far city.

My previous employer was a tough one, whenever I overslept, I would intentionally miss work and go back the next day with a sick sheet from a doctor friend of mine

Good thing, your employer accepts that excuse.
I actually was late the next day. That's because instead of waking up at my usual time of 5:00 a.m. I woke up at 6:00 because I was still so sleepy.

It happens to me most of the time. I think i had an insomnia now. It all started when i became addicted on a game "clash of clans", i always forced myself to stay awake till dawn just to continue the game. I already uninstalled the app since i couldn't sleep anymore even if i want.

Actually yes, playing of a game at night while in bed would keep one wide awake. Then, it will become a sleeping pattern adapted by the body after that. So, you shouldn't wonder why you sleep that way already.
You have to force yourself to sleep at the time you would like to until you overcome the previous pattern of sleep.
It really needs a big amount of self-control not to play a game at night anymore. The light from the screen activates our brain and makes us not fall asleep even if it's already supposedly your sleeping time.

Oh, that is a very nice thing to do indeed.
I am guilty of forgetting to read the bible at night anymore. I should have it as a reminder on my phone to always read the bible again, a verse or two and meditate o them before going to sleep and whenever I wake up at night and can't sleep anymore.
My iPad has a GloBible as it was my daughter's before, I might as well discover how to navigate it because I once opened it and find it a bit complicated to navigate, but I should find time to learn how to.
Thank you for your comment, it reminded me of a thing I have been doing before but have forgotten.

No, actually I pee about 5 or more times the entire night and I always would be asleep again after that. I drink one glass of cold water before I lay down to sleep that's why.
This was the exemption and I don't like it. I was cranky and moody the next morning. But after I had taken my power nap of 15 minutes after lunch, I am good again.
Last night, I slept well.

@sol_cee It's actually for health purposes. The alternative doctor who treated my father of his cancer of the prostate, told us that. He said that it will prevent us from getting a heart attack while asleep and from getting nightmares.
Since I am doing it, I don't get nightmares anymore. Besides, I like drinking a very cold water before laying down to sleep because it refreshes my body and don't feel the heat much.

Do you know that 3:00 a.m. is considered The Witching hour? It is said that this is the time when spirits roam.
Though, I don't like to believe that, but it's usually at this time always when I cannot sleep again. It will take me a long time to be eventually sleeping.
