He says, as he goes to the car "It is nasty out here this morning" because it is dark and damp and drizzly.
She says, as she goes to the car to get something as well "It is nice out this morning. I wish I could just sit here and watch the daylight come." in the dark and damp and drizzly morning.
It will be more light by the time I leave, and that will make a difference.
Perspective can be everything.
Meanwhile, I am enjoying hearing the birds wake up in the dark and damp and drizzly morning.

Perspective really does make a difference. Depending on the amount of drizzle (light drizzle, maybe a misting?), it can be nice to sit outside on the swing in the cool air.
