Best place in USA to see fall colors

Fall has started already and I would love to see the changing colors of trees. Please suggest the best places in the USA, preferably near New York to see the fall colors. Thanks in advance.

I would think New England would also have some beautiful fall colors. Also the mountain areas like Colorado probably have some nice foliage. I'm from NJ, but my sister is from the New England area and the photos I've seen from here are excellent.

I am sure there have to be some state parks with lots of trees you could go to. I have never been to New York so I have no suggestions.
