Pigeons could be troublesome.

There are many pigeons around our area. I understand that these kinds of pigeons are called Feral pigeons, also called city doves, city pigeons, street pigeons. They keep visiting our balcony the way they want or when they want and create mess. We just cannot keep a vigil on them all the time. We installed a cloth mesh wire to stop their entry in our balcony but they would come to the house through stairs, as and when they find a chance. They will sit on fans or external units of AC and create lots of problems. Do you have pigeons around your home and do they come and enter your home and create a havoc?

@kepweng - Your mother killed those pigeons and you just ate them like a dish. Now you do not find any pigeon near your house?

I see them in town and when I stop to let them go by they fly away. We have flies that visit us at home.

A neighbor's pigeon came inside our place by what way we had no clue, and made such a mess everywhere. We released the frightened bird when we got back from our overseas trip.

@dpk262006 Only one. Seriously, since my mother in law had a wicked sense of humor, and we gave our keys to her that time (the only time), we have been curious since whether she did something to help THAT event.

@dpk262006 there are no pigeons in the city, there are few trees here. I do not know where could I find pigeons in the city where I live. I truly like to see them. In Auckland park, I saw there so many friendly pigeons, so numerous.

@cacay1 It is good that pigeons are limited to park only and there are no pigeons around your home.

We do have pigeons here - though they don't create such a problem, maybe because we don't have as many of them.

Yes, you are right that in the downtown areas, there may be more pigeons. What happened in Mumbai was painful.

Sometimes pigeons can be found in our backyard. It's mostly dirt . . . so all the birds come and do bird things there . But they don't bother us . . . most of the time they are just resting on the telephone/wires above. But at the park or beach, sometimes they can be a nuisance . . . especially the ones begging for food. I actually used to have a pet pigeon. My dad rescued it and clipped its wings until it got well . . . then it was free to fly away . . . but it didn't! As soon as she could fly, she would leave, but then come back at night!

Pigeons in your area appear to be civilized as they stay away from entering your home and remain glued to wires. Yes, they could be nuisance at a part or at a beach because they make disturbances. It is interesting to hear that you had a pet pigeon and it used to remain at your home.

@dpk262006 I can't imagine pigeons trying to enter a home . . . the ones out your way must not be afraid! Most pigeons here will fly away if you try to go too close - unless they are one of those food beggars. They actually seem to be quite smart . . they just might not act smart .

@much2say Yes, they shamelessly enter our home and try to find a corner, where they could lay their eggs. Due to massive urbanization, they just cannot find places to lay their eggs. No doubt if you come close to them, they fly away but you are not there to make them feel scared all the time.

We have some small birds visiting our garden but not our house. They don't make a mess and I love hearing their songs early in the morning. There used to be a lot of pigeons flying around in our place when I was a kid but none of them ever visited our home.

@dpk262006 The pigeons in our place don't. They stay on the power line but never enter other houses. I've never lived in a bungalow house. Our houses have always been two-storey one.

There are no pigeons at all in our area. Where my Mother lives in Italy they come to her balcony, they even made a nest there and the baby pigeons were born on her balcony.
