Sad news for our family

I’ve been absent the last two days. We got home from Ireland on Monday evening. On Wednesday afternoon I rang my brother and sister who are twins and had a nice chat with both. Next morning my sister rang soon after lunch to say my brother had died.
The Meals on Wheels volunteer had found him seemingly asleep in his chair but on closer examination he was found to have passed away. We are all understandably shocked as, apart from some slight high blood pressure issues, he hadn’t been ill at all.
We immediately packed a few things and headed to our old home town to be with my sister. Since then we’ve been cleaning out my brother’s house while we await results for the autopsy. My brother had been totally blind for some years but lived on his own in the family home. Despite being blind his great joy was in restoring vintage tractors and it was absolutely amazing how he managed to do this whilst having no sight.
We have come home for the night to try to put together a slideshow which we hope to show at the wake. The photo is of my brother with one of the tractors that he eventually restored from a rusted hulk.
We head off again tomorrow so myLot is taking second place at the moment. I know you’ll understand.

I am sorry for the sudden loss, but it seems he did not suffer. I have a blind friend who through the years has worked on cars, and repaired appliances for others. It is awesome. This is such a good picture of your brother.

@hereandthere He would work on them for hours at a time. At least it gave him something to do.

@JudyEv still he was persistent, tenacious and passionate in what he wants and interested in despite he's condition. Salute also to Vince and those who helped, my salute to all of them.

Sorry to read that. My sincere condolences to you and your sister. With the stroke I got last March I have realized that high blood pressure issues should not be neglected.
This tractor has a funny look. Was he able to see a few things and colors or was he completely blind ?

@JudyEv it just goes to show how fragile life really is. We should count our blessings each and every day, as we never know when it's our turn to go. Again, my condolences to you. Are you doing okay?

He could anything with machines. Here is a pot plant stand that he used to make to sell or donate to charities to be raffled. Vince or another friend would do the welding but he would have everything ready - all clamped up and ready to go. How he measured things I don't know.

@JudyEv When one of our senses fail/are absent I think others double up to fill the void.
I recall one who lost his sight and he became an insurance agent. He developed a photographic memory to remember the details of all the policies. He memorized the telephone numbers of policy holders and reminded them for premium payments. His hearing was so sharp he could remember details of conversations more than ordinary souls - siva

My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family at this time. So very sorry for the loss of your brother.
I have always believed the biggest handicap any one has is the one where we tell ourselves we can't do something. Your brother had an incredible talent.
