Less Than 85 Days Until Christmas!

Have you started your holiday shopping? Whether or not you are Christian, many people of all religions give gifts to their loved ones during the holidays at the end of our calendar year. For Christians, there are less than 85 days left to do your gift shopping, wrapping and, in some cases, mailing. I usually start early, but still have lots to do. I have purchased gifts for our all four of our adult daughters and two of our grandchildren, as well as my husband. (Among other things, I'm giving my husband tickets to see the musical, "Hamilton" at the symphony hall in Orange County. Sshhh! Don't tell him!) I still need to purchase gifts for my four son-in-laws and five of my seven grandchildren. Whew! I still have lots of work to do. Eighty-five days are going to go quickly! What about you?

Not a lot of shopping for me. My adult kids tell me what they want and it always something I can order online. Stocking stuffers I pick up as I go along. For the rest it is usually homemade stuff.

I give gift cards to all except my two oldest granddaughters. They like the things I buy them. I get them cute things on clearance all year.

@jstory07 - That is one reason why I start shopping early ... so I can buy gifts on clearance when I see something good. It takes time and effort to get the best deals.

I have done quite a bit of my Christmas shopping but still, have a lot to do. Right now I am getting through the last 3 grandchildren's birthdays with a party next Saturday.

@BelleStarr - Oh, yes! I forgot to mention that we also have a few family birthdays between now and Christmas. It seems like I am constantly getting gifts for someone!

As we are now all adults, last year we decided not to exchange gifts anymore. We are going to have a nice celebration together. Spend the afternoon talking and playing and relaxing. The stress of the gifts is over.

@DeborahDiane I only buy a gift for my Mother, two gifts, because her birthday is the 13th of December, very close to Christmas. I already bought and they are wrapped and ready for her.

@LadyDuck - That is a great idea! We no longer exchange gifts with our siblings, but I do send my father something. I still shop for our daughters and grandkids, and it takes a lot of time!

@LadyDuck - That is nice to only have to buy a few gifts. I love my large family, but it seems as if every month I am writing checks and buying gifts for birthdays and Christmas. It can be overwhelming at times.

@Marymargll - I would like to have all my shopping finished by mid-November, since we will be seeing half our family for Thanksgiving and will celebrate Christmas with them at that time. This means I have a lot to do between now and then!

i have two small kids, and the older one is obsessed with Christmas, she every day asks me when Santa Claus will come and she repeats it during all day. She is at the age of four and I guess it is normal since after that period the joy is not the same as in early childhood. The younger daughter is too small, and doesn't understand but she will be very happy with coming Holidays and all that joy and light around us.

Oh good heavens no far too early yet! I love to give nice things and see the look on people faces it brings me so much pleasure. I don't really need anything to be honest. My daughter says I am the most difficult to buy for as I always say I don't need anything which I don't. I have all I need.

@garymarsh6 - Yes, by the time you reach our age, there are not many things we need. I tell my daughters not to get me any more perfume. I won't live long enough to use all the bottles of perfume I have, since I only wear it occasionally. I like to spend time outside, and don't want to attract mosquitoes! LOL My husband and I like to buy each other things like massages or tickets to the theater or concerts!

I still haven't started my Christmas shopping. I'd be buying my whats inside my Christmas list this early December, because at that time there would be alot of sales in the department stores and malls.
