A doe, a deer, a female deer. That came to mind when I spotted a doe on my walk this morning. She was lying on the grass alongside a pathway that leads to another street, just a few blocks from my home. There are residences all around and deer are a common sight in my neighborhood due to the large amount of green space and water sources nearby. What was strange was the doe did not seem concerned that we were so close and made no attempt to move. Got close enough to take some pics and she just gazed at me all wide eyed. The deer didn't appear to be hurt but we decided to leave her alone and if it was still there on our walk back then that would be cause for concern. After a forty minute walk, the deer was still there, hadn't moved or changed position. She seemed to be saying "help me" as I looked into her eyes. We got home and called conservation and they promised to come and pick her up. I will keep checking on her in the meantime.

I hope so too. They live among us but they are not tame so I though this one's behavior was unusual.

Aww I wonder if she was wounded. Even the deer we have here which are used to seeing humans all the time would likely run off.

Same here. Soon as you get close to them they run off. I guess she must have been injured.

@Freelanzer The same to me. I love nature, too. I used to go mountain biking in the wood where I would hear orangutangs squeak and birds sing. I would stop by the shallow river.

It is a nice area and I love being close to nature. I like the deer but don't like it when they come into my garden and eat my flowers

It seemed quite relaxed but perhaps because he wasn't feeling well.

A lot of deer around here. But wildlife dept. pretty much lets nature take it's course even in the city.
