Hey everyone. So at the end of the month my husband has the opportunity at work to earn an end of the month bonus. The team members have to rate his performance and if they all give 5 stars he gets the bonus. He's been working so hard and he found out the ratings today for the month of September. He was disappointed they gave him 3 & 4 stars when he's been working late and so hard for all of them... Apparently they didn't know he would ever see the ratings because 3 out of 5 of them said they gave him 5 stars...nobody did though. It's not a huge deal but my husband now has his eyes wide open and this has changed his perspective about some of them. I feel bad, I know he's been working his hiney off. Oh well, win some and lose some. How do you feel about two faced people?

I am very sorry, but I know very well how much people are jealous of the success of the others, the star rating never works, people are liars.

@LadyDuck It would have been bad enough if money wasn't involved but that was $1,000 our family really needed. =(

@LovingMyBabies People are really mean, what I hate most is they then say they gave 5 stars to show how nice they are.

@LilyBeBack I don't understand it either. It's not like it would be taken from them, it's not like it was coming out of their pockets, it's not like he didn't deserve 5 stars-he worked his butt off for all of them!

I find it odd that the other workers should determine if he got a bonus. Wouldn't that be up to the boss?

@Barbaraprz They are technically all his bosses, they are project managers-above my husband so they all get to rate him.

@hereandthere The boss gave it to him after he told the project managers it wouldn't be shown to him. The boss is just as shady as the rest of them apparently.

@hereandthere Yup exactly. They lied to mine and Johhny's face since one of them was in our home with his lies saying he gave him 5 stars! The bonus was promised if he got 5 stars from everyone-which he thought he was going to since they all lied to him... So messed up. The boss lives in a 6 bedroom home on the water in a very rich area here and has a brand new vehicle-doubt he's short on funds.

@LovingMyBabies by saying it's confidential, they felt "freer" to be more "honest" to the boss about his performance, but pretended "all is well" when they're face to face with johnny? was the bonus promised? maybe they're short of funds?

I won't say what I really want to... I'm sorry your husband won't get his bonus, that's not fair and it's not fair that he's working with people who can't be honest with him either. My sister had a situation earlier this year where her colleagues promised here they'd tell the owner the truth about their boss who was bullying everyone, but once they got into their individual meetings they did what the bully had told them to do and they lied about everything, and when my sister told the truth she got sacked Less than two months later, the shop started a closing down sale - I don't necessarily believe that karma always works, but sometimes coincidences feel a lot like karma.

@Lilybeback Thank you, I agree it's not fair at all. Yup, I can't stand workplace 2 faced people like that. I'm sorry for your sister as well. Yes what goes around does often come back around. This one guy in particular makes us the most mad because he has hung out at our house a few times and my husband thought they were buddies...Clearly not.

@LilyBeBack I agree! It's not hurting them in any way and he worked his butt off for them! It's not like he didn't work for it. No, he's not allowed in our home anymore.

@LovingMyBabies If I worked in a place that used this system, I'd give everyone five stars! It's not like it's just a rating, it's money, and we all know how difficult it is to come by for most of us. That's cruel of the one who was supposed to be your husband's friend, I hope he isn't welcome in your house any more

At my previous employer, every year we had to rate other employees in our group in addition to ourselves. And, no one ever gave themselves a perfect 5, because theres always room for improvement & growth. We did have to write a couple of paragraphs explaining our reasoning and justification not just a rating. Of course every industry is different. I am sorry to hear his team members were two faced liars. Did your husband have to rate them as well?

@LovingMyBabies That is clearly shady if your husband was the only one being rated? I wonder if his boss employer was just saying that to make it a motivation to work harder? Or, how does the rules apply if its a one way streak? But either way, I'd be totally pissed at the back stabber team mates he is working with! That bonus could helped significantly.

@infatuatedbby No one else was rated though-just my husband. That's another shady part about all of this. Why wasn't everyone rated if they wanted to do things that way? Thanks, the biggest thing is they lied to his face and they cost our family $1,000!

Wow, that just has to be a terrible eye-opener for your husband, to work his butt off and only get 3s and 4s. Do you think they are rating him lower because he's new, or because they're jealous of his work ethic, or for some other reason? I wonder if they know they're not going to get a bonus, so they rate him lower so that he doesn't get one either?
