School Days

I've heard it said that school days are the happiest of our lives but I can honestly say that they weren't for me. My dad was in the police force and we were always being moved around so I never felt that I fitted in. I would just get settled and then we would up and move again. I did enjoy college however because I was doing subjects that I had chosen and I made friends that even many years later I kept in touch with. I had that sense of belonging. Did you enjoy your time at school or did you feel it was something you had to endure.

@weevee18 I didn't make many friends at school which is why I felt lonely. I did make one good friend towards the end of my school years though and we are still friends today after 50 years!

@weevee18 I don't see her much now but when we do meet it's as if all the years had never passed and we were back there as teenagers. We laugh so much at all the silly things we used to do.

I liked the first 3 years, I liked a lot. Then my parents moved to another apartment and I changed school, from that day on it has been a nightmare, I hated the school, I hated the girls there, I hated everything. Later I enjoyed college.

@LadyDuck Yes that's true and we can leave college any time if things don't work out so not so much pressure.

I loved school and the learning, however the other kids not so much. I was picked on and stuff. I held my own thou and wouldn't back down, I guess it made me stronger as I am today a strong person. So it was mixed for me, loved and hated school.

@Ithink Education over here is free up to the age of 19 so kids have the chance to leave school and carry on at college until then. After that they have to pay.

Not so happy for thise who struggle with academics. Some of us who were good at studying didn't understand at the time but do now. My school days have been happy. All 56 years of them. That's probably why I became a teacher!

@petatonicsca I didn't struggle academically (apart from maths). I just never felt that I fitted in because of our constant moving around. I always made sure my own children stayed at the same schools because I didn't want them to feel the same way.

I was bullied a lot in elementary school and junior high school, and was miserable there. College was much, much better.

@spiderdust I think people are more mature when they get to college age and realise how cruel bullying is but I'm sure it still happens.

@sprite1950 I think bullying still happens in college, but in general no one has time for it.

I enjoyed my school days but I was at the same school the entire time so it was much easier for me. I think I would have had a hard time making new friends every few years.

You have brought up a very nice topic. People often like to generalize things. However it is not so. What stage of life is happiest for a person depends on individual situations.
