Knitting

Yes, it’s something that I’m trying to learn. I have some needles and some yarn, and I’m trying to do it. I have watched a few videos and it’s fun. I’m definitely enjoying it. It may not be everyone’s cup of tea, which I can understand, but I’m having fun doing it. I haven’t done much of it, but it’s something that I’d like to continue. Does anyone else knit?

When my mother taught my older sister and me to knit, my sister wondered why her scarf wasn't getting any longer. My mom watched her knit and it turned out that my sister was just passing the stitches from one needle to the other without bringing the yarn forward to add to the stitch.

I enjoy it. I have some projects I need to finish. There are knitting groups at our library and at the yarn shop. I enjoy getting together with others and knitting.

@paigea I would love to join a group to learn some new stitches. My cousin was supposed to come teach me how to do cables, but never has done so.

No, I am bad with my hands. My mother tried to teach me a couple of times. I got so frustrated I burst into tears! No knitting for me..but I think most enjoy it. One of the ladies at the yard sale I went to Saturday had several knitted creations she was trying to sell. It is a good little side line business for her I think.

Not everyone is good with their hands. It’s still good that you tried to learn. I’m glad that this lady is able to earn a little bit through her knitting.

I have done a lot of knitting over the years. At the moment my passion runs more to quilting and sewing.

That’s pretty cool. I’d like to try quilting and sewing. But for the moment I’ll start with this. What you do you do most?

@dodo19 Lately mostly making patchwork quilts on the sewing machine and then hand quilting them. I'm also working on embroidering a quilt front (crib size) to finish in time for next years fair.

I can knit but I much prefer to crochet as it is faster and easier to put right if you make a mistake. But both are fun hobbies to have.

Both can be good. I figured knitting might be fun. I’d like to maybe do some crochet at some point.

My grandmother, mom, and both sisters knit. My mom tried to teach me but that didn't work out to well.

I was taught how to knit, pearl, do embroidery and crochet when I was a child. Haven't done any of it in years.

I am an avid knitter myself, but I also enjoy crochet, needlepoint, cross stitch, tatting and I would just love to learn how to do needlelace. One of these days I will be sitting down and watch a few videos and read a few books and start doing needlelace. Keep on knitting. It is a great way to relax and at the same time keep your fingers busy,

I had to learn it when taking home economics class back in grade 9, but I never excelled at it as I had no interest. I was all thumbs when it came to holding the needles or reading a pattern. Good luck with this.

No, but my mom used to. I like seeing how people can be really creative when they knit. I attempted to learn cross-stitch once but eventually abandoned that too

I love to knit. It is calming for me. Yesterday I started a hat for my grandson who is due at the end of December. I hope to make a variety of them for him in various sizes and colors. Also need to start a sweater to match the hat I am finishing up.

Before I got sick, I cut my pants that I no longer using and did some DIY (Do it yourself). I made them a short and knit each side. Now I am still having them.

Good for you! I tried to learn but I would get one row on it- and then when it came to the next row it would always just slide off! It's funny in hind sight but it was pretty frustrating at the moment.
