On a soup binge

Since Sunday I have had soup for lunch and dinner. It started with a pot of black bean vegetable soup that lasted until Tuesday. On Tuesday I made a pot of split pea vegetable soup which should last for a few days. Along with the soup I have homemade bread and stir fry greens directly from the garden. I plan to be on a soup binge for a week at least but I am liking it so much I may extend it. It helps that I am the only soup lover in the family so I don't have to share. Soup does the soul and body good. I feel cleansed. What is your favorite soup?

My favorite is clam chowder. Has to be thick with a lot of clams in it. My least favorite is corn chowder. I made a pot of chicken soup on Sunday. We have had it most every day this week. I am giving my daughter some to take home with her tomorrow.

@Freelanzer I like thick soups too. I've also made and liked vichyssoise (cold cucumber soup). It's nice on a hot day.

My grandmother used to always have a soup of some kind on the back burner of the wood burning stove. She was used to the men during the depression coming to ask if they could do some work for food.

Soup has indeed provided sustenance to many throughout history and the depression is a good example.

I like my banana soup. I make it with my juicer but collect the pulp and the juice. Ingredients: bananas, hot pepper, lettuce, cucumbers and a few dates or figs. I can vary it by adding anything I want.

@Freelanzer I have a digestive problem and so I try to eat as healthy as possible and finding things that don't aggravate my situation. I don't digest cooked food well for some weird reason. My lunch was some fresh herbs from my balcony garden and a some pears.

I would have a hard time picking a favourite. Right now in the fridge is left over curry carrot soup hubby made and left over roasted red pepper soup that I made. Both yummy.
