Would you be happy if your country accepts drug addicts as refugees?

. With the Philippines' Duterte Administration's War on illegal drugs, some drug addicts are seeking refugee status in countries like Australia.. They claim that if they stay in the Philippines, they would be killed..They make it sound like Duterte is out there to hunt and shoot anyone who is on drugs or even just suspected on being in drug business.. Because they don't talk about the millions of drug addicts who are being rehabilitated, that's why the international community believe that it's all just killings over there.. I for one, hope that Australia won't take in drug addicts because we have our own huge problems with drug addiction here.. In the recent years, the drug related crimes went up.. Heinous crimes are committed by people who are under the influence of drugs.. Some of these heinous criminals can not be rehabilitated.. They've lost their humanity.. and governments must do whatever they can to preserve the youth of their countries.. I told my husband that maybe some of those drugs would be diverted to Australia now that they can't bring them into the Philippines.. Would you be happy if your country accept drug addicts as refugees?.. Bess.. Photo is of the Majestic Mayon volcano .. I took a couple of years ago ..

@epiffanie I do agree that it takes time to have changes in their lives.

Yes I agree .. because in reality, the Duterte Administration is not what they are pictured by the opposition.. but countries like Australia should be careful in their investigation when people are applying for refugee status ..

I certainly wouldn't be happy to have them in my country - there are enough of them here already.

They would need to be seriously willing to undergo rehab then, I suppose. But we already have problems even with the non-addicts, so I'm not sure if that's a good idea or not.

Yes, it's a difficult one because we must show compassion to genuine refugees and it's not easy...

I don't know... it wouldn't seem wise. Maybe they could come only if they lived in a treatment center for awhile... or something?
