My husband's niece called a little bit ago. She asked if I could babysit her son tonight. Usually I would have done it but I'm already watching my husbands niece and nephew so their mom can go to the hospital. Plus I have my 2 babies. I felt bad but I think 4 little ones is enough for me, especially at the end of the day. I'm tired now, I need some time to wind down from the day. I think she's mad at me but I can't always say yes...

I don't know why she would be mad at you. First of all, you are under NO obligation to watch HER child. And, secondly, she called at the last freaking minute.

@NJChicaa My husband's family is like that sometimes. Yes she did wait until the last minute and I already said yes to my sister in law.

@LovingMyBabies My sister's in-laws are like that too. They will send her a text on Friday about a birthday party on Sat or Sun. She is one to have her calendar booked a month in advance. Drives her insane.

@andriaperry Yeah usually I could handle it but I'm also up half the night lately with Josiah since he's teething. Just couldn't say yes today. She's okay, thank you.

@Leapea2417 Yeah usually I would say yes but my youngest is teething, I haven't had much sleep lately and I have been babysitting all day. I had to say no.

Sorry to hear she got mad when you said no. Four little ones is enough for you to watch. She should understand that.

@Happy2beme Thank you. She knows I usually day say yes so I guess it annoyed her. She said I will pay you. I said it's not about money, it would just be too much tonight.

Four little ones? Yeah, I think that's enough to handle without adding a fifth. Plus saying no might make her think about asking at the last minute.

You are wise in saying no as you know you're limits. If she can't understand that its her problem obviously not yours. For some reason family sees to act like you owe them or shouldn't say "No" but everyone has the right to say no without attitudes!

@Butchcass4 Thank you. I usually never say no and that's what made her mad I guess because she was shocked by it.

It's important for everyone to learn how to set boundries and take care of their self. Also, it's important to teach other people that you'll do what you can for them - on your terms.
