We finally have our sweet little puppy

We were able to pick up our little puppy today at 10am. It slept on my daughters lap the whole way home (a half hour drive). It had been given a bath right before we picked it up so thankfully we had a blanket in our car we wrapped it in. We bought various size collars and leashes and toys for her. She had to wear the extra small collar and I had to tighten it up. We will keep the rest for her to grow into but I don't think she is going to get very big. We adore her! The only thing is she has fleas. The puppy had one accident on the carpet but went outside the other two times. It has slept more then it has been awake. It keeps finding woodchuck scat in the yard it enjoys...ick! She does not like her collar at all. Yesterday was my exes bday so we went to dinner with him and his son. I bought soda, cake and ice cream that we ate here afterwards. His son spent the night but my ex went home then picked his son up this morning right before we went to pick up the puppy. The boys had fun together until about 10:30 pm when they got wrestling and hurt each other. I am very tired today.

The puppy is named Viking. Odd name for a girl I know but that's what the kids picked. Big name for a tiny puppy. The fleas is an expense I wasn't anticipating.

@Courtlynn I think she has a small umbilical hernia as well but my ex said sometimes his parents pups (they bred dogs) were born with them and they clear up. I looked online and it said its common for Pekingese to be born with them.

@shaggin oh yeah, I remember you saying that. Sorry. Yeah.. fleas are a pain and costly to remove

At that age they are still very susceptible to fleas and ticks, perhaps a flea collar or powder would help and dust it too around places where she sleeps.

She's actually to young for a flea collar yet unfortunately. Tomorrow when I go shopping I am going to see if there is flea shampoo for puppies this small. Usually nothing can be used until they are 12 weeks. She has 6 more to go if that's the case.

@louievill She doesn't like having to stay in the kitchen while my son does cyber school but I can't watch her constantly to make sure she doesn't wet on the carpet so she has to stay where an accident can easily be wiped up. She did better in her crate last night after being covered.

It looks like a yellow lab. We had a lab mix 15 years ago and it only got to 55. Lbs or so at full size.

My ex had a brown lab and she at 8 weeks old was twice the size of my puppy at 9 weeks old. She is a tan color but the photos are hard to tell from. She looks larger in photos to so everyone who has met her is surprised how little she is. She has a darker stripe of fur down her back and her tail. It's more coarse the fur there but she has the softest ears I love to kiss.

@MarshaMusselman My puppy’s mother was Pekingese, jack Russell and chihuahua. That’s quite a combo there but they aren’t sure what the father was maybe a beagle.

@shaggin So, do you know what kind of dog it is, or is it mainly a mutt?

The puppy looks like a golden retriever. They do grow to medium size. I had a lab she was medium size. They are great dogs. The vet can take care of fleas. It is great to watch them grow up. Sounds like you had a busy day. I take it you and your ex are still friends.

@Hannihar The puppy has only met him twice for about a minute each. I have only seen him about 3 times the past 3 months so...

My ex and I have been on and off dating the past 5 years. Trying to work things out one last time but I think its pointless. The puppy at 9 weeks is still bery small. Pekinese, jack russell and chiuahua are all small so I don't expect she will get very big even though we don't know for sure what breed her father is.

It slept it a crate last night and yelped and cried for about 5 minutes then stepped and didn't do it again until 6:45 am so that was lucky I think.

@peachpurple That's a neat idea but we don't have any clocks like that. I am sure she does miss her mommy and siblings. She did much better last night in her crate since I covered it with a sheet.

@shaggin i think she is missing her mommy, put a clock next to it, she could feel the ticking sound that resembles mommy heart beat

She is perfect for our small home. She is so much calmer then I expected for being part Jack Russell but when she rubs she's faster then I expected so she has to be on a leash which she hates but will get used to.

She is such a gorgeous little puppy. I posted other photos on Facebook but will have to share more here as well. My ex, his son and I ate pizza. My son had chicken tenders and my daughter had mozzarella sticks and cheese fries. Cost was about $50. I am still eating the leftover pizza today. It was okay but not as good as when we are there a few years ago. Even their garlic knots were very bland.

I sorry I did not respond to this until now. It did not show up in my notifications (or I could have missed it). I love this puppy so much. She's laying on me sleeping which is what she has done most the day today. I think playing with my exes dog today tired her right out.

She is to little for any kind of treatment until 12 weeks I believe.
