What is your take on the Catalonia referendum from Spain? Is it good idea? For football loves what will be Barcelona FC fate in the football world?

Been listening to the news but do not know what to make of it. Hope it doesn't result in violence.

@genpius - That would be the preferred method of working things out. Our US news reports are so confusing (to me) because people start using words that make it sound like the folks who want independence are just troublemakers. But I find that hard to believe. I suspect there are legitimate reasons for why people want to break free. The average person doesn't just wake up one morning and say, “I'm tired of being a part of my country! I want to be independent!!” Nah! Something led up to that. But by the time it reaches our news reports, it's a “mixed bowl of soup” with who knows what thrown into it. I met two people from Spain online and they each wrote detailed blog posts. I was about to explore the matter further when the mass shooting incident in Las Vegas totally focused my attention elsewhere. But we listen to world news reports. No doubt I'll be hearing an update on the Catalonia issue during the day.

Welcome to myLot, I was watching TVE (an international state tv channel from Spain) this afternoon, direct from Barcelona. There were so many Spanish and EU flags in the streets, that I doubt that the independence will ever happen. Anyway I do not think that it would have any consequence for the Barcelona FC which is a private club.

OK, I guess it wouldn't pull through, but if it does, it means Catalonia ceases to be a Spanish club

I wish that they would have let the people voted instead of basically police causing riots and hurting what they think is "their own people" It is like they are asking for a second civil war. Catalonia is totally different and with the voter turn out should be able to separate it. I don't know much about football, so I can't really have an opinion there haha
