3 Things Ruined by the Internet for me part 1

3. History - I love history because it saves us from doing the mistakes of our ancestors and it gives us the power to repeat their right decisions too. Sadly because of the internet Revisionist historians used it to manipulate the Youth. Because of the Revisionist historians some people are now thinking Holocaust didn't happen. The Revisionist are also able to make some people believe that some Dictator is now a great person. 2.News- I still buy News papers because of it. Seriously a country that I love is now under the palm of the fingers of some Blogger on facebook. The people of that country have data cap on their internet so they don't bother to go to actual news websites. Instead they use some Blogger from Facebook as their news source which divided the country big time. 1. Health- Seriously because people wanted to save money or are too afraid to go to a doctor, they are now using Social media and search engines to self diagnose their selves. Yahoo Answers and Google search will not cure your disease....

I agree that online health tips should not be an alternate to doctors and conventional healthcare systems. Ofcourse, one can get good tips online regarding how to stay healthy, but there are other factors too.

@CaptAlbertWhisker Yes because these tips are generalized and not related to particular body type.

As long as Filipinos uses facebook as news, I wont be shocked if Mocha is the next President.

@allen0187 I just saw a Mocha post accusing Robredo of being pregnant with Mar Roxas' spawn. Dutertards believes that. She already looks menopaused to me. Also where are the bullet trains Duterte promised? Based form what I see in rappler LRT and MRT is still garbage.

I still buy and read the newspaper too. I don't read anything from Facebook! I never consult the internet for my health problems. I just check out the symptoms and then go see my doctor. I love history and I have this Chinese friend who told me that the very first race to ever visit the Philippines were the Chinese and it's in their history book.

@CaptAlbertWhisker Our own history books don't have that record.

@toniganzon I dont mind that kind of history. I just dont like the enw history online saying Martial law is great and Marcos is great. I think the Marcos Loyalist revisionist historians took advantage of Noynoy's mediocrity.

Most of the health info that's online is inaccurate also. Writers who are not medical experts write the articles found on health websites -- I know because I have done it! And I know from experience that just because you read one thing online, does not mean that's how it actually is. (I read all kinds of scary things about a procedure I had, but the actual procedure and followup care was nothing like the info online claimed.) Also, it's so easy to misdiagnose yourself. Look up any symptoms you are having and you'll convince yourself that you're dying.

because of an article online, Someone I know thought he has cancer because of a bump on his neck and decided to take cancer medicine from the black market because he refuse to see doctors. the bump on his neck is just a boil not a tumor.

@CaptAlbertWhisker That is crazy! He could make himself really sick doing that. I would never take any medication that wasn't prescribed to me by a doctor, unless it's something that you can buy over the counter (in stores.) Why is he so against seeing doctors? People here refuse to see doctors too, I wouldn't go for a long time but that's because they never listened to me and just kept telling me my symptoms were all in my head (they weren't.) I finally have some good doctors who were able to diagnose me. Sometimes it takes a while to find the right doctor to help you.

So true...people sometimes blindly follow that and mis diagnose themselves.

Which is a bad thing because many news on the internet are lies.

@CaptAlbertWhisker Yep. In this case we need to be alert with it.

Agree 100% to point 1 and 2. Especially news were and are of higher quality on paper. The first point, however, could be or not. Some people use the internet poorly and get into trouble. Others use it as an enhancement.

I just debated someone who thinks Jews are evil and the holocaust didn't happen. His source is the internet. Many Millennials are easily manipulated by the revisionist historians. News Paper is more trustworthy to me over some blogger from facebook. It is sad that a whole country is being controled by a single blogger.
