Are you a strict daughter?

Years ago, I would dread going home late at night because I knew my mom would be there, waiting angrily by the door, with the muted television. She’s a strict mother hen who never let her chicks out of her sight. Even if they’re consenting adults. Forward to the future. Yesterday, I asked my sister where mom was because she wasn’t replying to my messages. You see, right after our father passed away, we became our mother’s keeper. Sister said mom went to her friend’s house somewhere far from the city. Sister added that mom didn’t tell me because she knew I would be angry. The ball is round. Lol Photo is from Google.

My father is 83. So I should be saying The Ball is round...but it is not...I am still the one who gets troubled...and most of the time, in fact as far as I remember, I have been the one who has been giving in, because I always felt, he is old, he will die then I will be left with regrets. Trust me, it is a real roller coaster ride.

@Shiva49 .. I pick my battles. I opt for those which are likely to have serious consequences in my life, present and future. That way, even if he goes, and I am left with some sadness that we did not have good words to share - at least I would be consoled with the feeling that it was necessary to have taken that stand.
@sol_cee .. No...some make their parents sell their homes, and shift to smaller accommodations, not spare monies for their upkeep since they would not have enough for drinking, and try to ask parents to stay with them instead of keeping their independence even if parents tend to argue and have lot of blood pressure issues. Trust me, I know what I am talking.
@sol_cee The funny thing is, the young people think older people stop having feelings. Your mother must have felt lonely like crazy without your father. (Some of my older relatives and acquaintances at 70 & 80+ still go searching for love. At heart, they are forever young and at 18...)
