The HIgh Price of Indulgence

Hey folks! I'm back after a few days away over the Canadian Thanksgiving weekend. I had a lovely time visiting with family in another town and am now back to my old habits.
I treated myself over the weekend to a Starbucks latte and a sweet treat and I was blown away by the price. I could have bought a whole pie with that little indulgence. Being on a fixed income makes you notice these things but to be truthful there was a time in my youth where I would be buying this maybe 4 times a week! Still over $8.00 is a big price to pay for a latte even though it was delicious.
I'm not regretting it as I thoroughly enjoyed it along with the little cafe ambience that was provided! It was so warm outside, I even drank my coffee on the little patio while I waited for my husband to shop at a nearby store. We are having a wonderful Fall here in Southern Ontario and it's little things like this that allow you to enjoy it even more! Hope you all had a good Thanksgiving with whatever you had for dinner!

Sure we do- it makes us feel good and gives us a break. My problem is I'd like to do it a lot more--ha!

@MarymargII I agree, young people do not realize that there will be a time when every cent is important.

Yes they do charge an excessive amount and unfortunately all the young people don't mind at all. It's only when you're older that you start to realize these things. However, like you said- it's good to have a break and enjoy the moment some times!

Hey there! It's been awhile since I've seen you here!
I love Starbucks. I'm not really a coffee drinker and I don't really drink coffee unless it's from Starbucks and I indulge in Starbucks only from the month of November until December. And that's because in here they give away cute planners and you can get that if you complete then sticker cards they give you!

@MarymargII The only time they get reasonable is when I get coupons from their free planner. There's a buy one get one coupon, a free cake coupon, discounts too! And that's for 12 months.

Yes, I've been busy and away for awhile- thanks for noticing- No I love Starbucks too but as I get older I do notice their high prices and hope they get a little more reasonable.

@MarymargII If it included the sweet, then , the price was not that bad.

Yes it did and it was a tasty treat! It was a 'Blondie"- kind of like a Brownie but white--ha!

@marlina Well without the sweet it must have been about 5.00 but not as bad as 8.00 that's for sure. And a lot worse than say Tim Horton's etc. But it was a latte and very good. So I don't mind but honestly couldn't afford that very often.

@MarymargII Not low enough. I had a tea because I don't drink coffee when I was there with my friend.

@just4him True they too are pricey but at least you could get something for the time.

They are good but the price is ridiculous! They do make teas as well at a slightly lower cost.

Glad you enjoyed you indulgence. Starbucks are so expensive. We've been having a beautiful fall here too. We went to my son's place and not a bbq for Thanksgiving. Not your traditional Thanksgiving dinner but it was so good.

Anything is great as long as you have some family around- Why not have a BBQ? Ha! It's all good and a nice change.

I find Starbucks to be way overpriced I rarely indulge. I do get a cappuccino whenever I can at whatever restaurant I am at.

It's terrible, how they overcharge for these specialty coffees! I use to drink one, not too often though. Some people drink one, every single day! WOW!

Yes, it's about $4 to $6 dollars and that's a lot for each day- especially if you eat lunch out!!
