There are some movies that I will watch that I just don't get. Sometimes, I can find something to enjoy about them. At other times, I can't even get through them and will shut them off and return them. When I watch the movie today by the discussion title, the one thing that I absolutely can say that I enjoyed about this movie was the music. I could hear one of our very own, @thehorse , likely singing some of these Tunes. I could also hear the harmonies that our mother taught my sister @sonjarae and me to sing. If not for the music, I would have shut this movie off within the first 20 minutes. I just did not get it.

I thought it was a great story. perhaps the era and demographics weren't clear to you. I don't get what you don't get. It all made perfect sense to me.

It is a weird movie, but like you said, the music is good. There are some funny parts, but not enough.

Was it not up for some sort of Oscar maybe even it won something? I thought I was missing something because I've heard such rave reviews about it. The only thing that I really liked was the music. Yes a very weird movie!

@CoralLevang It did get awards. A Golden Globe is one. I cannot see this movie winning anything. Just plain silly.

I loved this movie and the music. It was more of an era piece, not long ago we still had the chain gang going here in Alabama.

@CoralLevang It was about the poor and stupid, the fat "boss hogs" of politics, Prison and the chain gang, escaping. The Gangsters of that time era. And the music of those times BUT it was mostly about true love, he loved his wife and his little girls, even though he was no bona fide.

I saw this George Clooney movie. So highly praised and I thought it non-memorable. You are correct that the fine soundtrack was the best thing going for it.

I was impressed by nothing else other than the music. Had I ever seen it before I would never have like George Clooney and anything else!

I'm with you. This is definitely one of those movies where I'd say, "Get the soundtrack, skip the film." Although, I did like the rather authentic depiction of a 1930s recording session...and the appearance of the Whites singing "Keep on the Sunny Side." But that doesn't make the movie watchable.

I can't say that I have a favorite song. I was a singer and musician all of my life from the time I was a little girl and my father was a professional musician. And then I made my money playing music for about a decade, and have liked music from all genres and all different times. My favorite movie of all time is The Wizard of Oz.

I feel you, I remember a movie, not very interesting, but, the soundtrack contained some songs from the Cranberries, so I liked the movie instantly. It's about a crazy woman that just travels around, she meets another lady and they hang together...until the first one decides to die so she asks from the second woman to drown her... Butterfly Kiss :-) Dolores O'Riordan has a magical voice, I wish I met her and talk with her for a while. Can you please tell about the movie you have just seen ?

I have seen a lot of violent kind of shows before. I watch the series Boardwalk Empire which was a Scorsese series. Talk about violence of the times! And there were times it was disturbing. But it seemed to work in the series. This thing was just weird.

We have done the exact same thing. After twenty minutes into a movie, pop it out and put a different movie in:) It's pointless to watch it, when it's like chewing on sour grapes!
