Juicy Cantaloupes

United States
October 12, 2017 11:23am CST
When my daughter was out yesterday she stopped at our local supermarket to pick up a few things and came home with 3 huge cantaloupes. I really was surprised because I thought cantaloupe season had ended. The best part was the price. These cantaloupes were only 97 cents each and like I said they were huge. For that price I expected them to be pretty tasteless but when I cut one up this morning it was juicy and delicious. A welcome treat and healthy!!

I don't know why they were so cheap and there was no limit on how many you could buy

I thought they were mostly over now too. Besides the ones in the fruit cups. Glad it was juicy

I love cantaloupes but haven't had any in ages. Usually if they show up in store here in Latvia they cost a lot.

They are expensive here too in Canada. But somehow, I suspect that they cost more in Latvia.

That is a good question @marlina just commenting here I was wondering the same think in case I ever found any cheap cantaloupes. I found this
Savor the juicy sweetness of summer-ripened cantaloupe all year long by stashing melon chunks in the freezer.

The season has definitely ended here, you cannot find watermelon and melon anymore. The Aldi store sold the last ones in stock at about the same price. It was about two weeks ago.

We've had some good cantaloupes this season but we went to the grocer today and no more cantaloupes. I don't expect to see any sweet ones til next year.
