Walked the Slippery, Muddy Road

Yesterday was fun although it was Friday the 13th! We had fun walking so carefully not to slip and fall on the mud and puddles along that dirt road leading to the small chapel where a baptism was held. She was the baby of our masseuse/therapist, and my nephew-in-law was one of the godparents/sponsors. So my husband, my sister, my nephew-in-law and his nine years old daughter went to grace the occasion. There was a simple lunch served us at the house of our masseuse friend. It was also their barangay fiesta, the Feast of Our Lady of Fatima. It was indeed fun experiencing that same thing, walking on mud or dirt road, which we did when we were children as we trek our way going to the river to bathe and wash clothes. So good to reminisce the days!

it's been raining here on and off since the other day. was it hard choosing non-fatty food? because i remember your experience with roasted pork and chicken.

Thanks for that reminder! It was good they had pochero, the kind of menu that has lots of vegetables in it. The host cooked delicious foods that were not so fatty, and I was conscious of the food I ate there.

@tech40 they do not have funds for it; or maybe they have to ask the local government to build a road going there.

There's mud, because it was just a dirt road; not concrete, but just plain soil. They could not construct a concrete road because the area is still part of a large sugarcane plantation and I think the owner of that hacienda had not granted land ownership to those people who settled on the outskirts of that land.

It was fun! It is so nice to walk again on that road lined with grasses and other vegetables on the sides/farm. It was a rural setting and it so refreshing though we had to be careful not to slip and fall on the mud.

I'm glad it turned out to be such a wonderful day for you! What did you decide to wear on your feet?

I wore a walking sandals, a Merrel sandals that has good rubber soles so it won't slip on the mud.

I can imagine you'd be walking very carefully as I guess you were all wearing some of your best clothes - or almost best clothes.

@acelawrites That's good. We don't get dressed up too much here nowadays either. Only very occasionally we need to dust off our 'best' clothes.

No, we wore casual clothes because it was a rural setting and it is very informal. The people living there are simple people.

Three years ago when I experienced walking under the rain and walking in the muddy road, that was fun and I don't know will will this happen again.
