News About the Twins and School

Ok, so I was so upset about Elijah and the problems he was having at school and the bullying. He would wake up daily and cry because he did not want to go to school. The parent/teacher meetings with all 3 of the kids' teachers were great yesterday. Keith didn't really have any problems and Adam has some learning difficulties but he is advancing well according to his teacher. Elijah has problems with writing and was being bullied by a little girl who made fun of his handwriting. He would wake up crying in the middle of the night about not going to school. His kindergarten teacher has been wonderful about this. She found out who the culprit was and contacted the special education teacher taking over the class he is in. It has all been taken care of. I am so glad. I just knew I was going to have to go to that school and have a hissy fit with his IEP (individual education plan) team. As it turns out, the little girl is in his group that goes to the IEP math session in the afternoons. The teacher handling the group was not the lead teacher that I spoke with at the IEP meetings. This teacher did not realize it was happening. (Ok, so where was her head? ) Anyway, the clueless teacher has left the school and the original head IEP lead teacher has taken over the class. Elijah's kindergarten teacher discussed the issues with the IEP lead teacher and the situation is now under control. Elijah's teacher also assured me that every day when he comes back to kindergarten class she asks him how things are and if anything negative happened. This kindergarten teacher is the bomb! I love her and so does Elijah! Now my worries are lifted. This situation is under control and all 3 of the kids have good teachers looking after them. I am so happy now.

I'm so glad it's all been resolved. Girls can be the worst kind of bullies.

You know how girls are @Shellyann36 she'll probably live to regret being so mean to him but in the mean time she'll probably gossip about it all the time. I really feel for Elijah.

Good for you for following up on your children and their problems in school. I went through the same thing but my son was a lot older when the bullying happened to him.

@sumofalltears I just hope that this does not continue into the higher grades. Did the school take care of the bullying problem for you and your son?

That is so great he has such a good teacher now. That will make for a much better year for your little one. I did not realize in your other post that he was being bullied. How sad! Kids can be really sneaky and say nasty things very quietly the teacher can't hear I suspect that is what was going on why the other teacher didn't know. Imagine picking on someone because there handwriting was bad wow how ridiculous and petty of that little girl. My sons handwriting is terrible as well for his age. So is mine at 34 lol

@shaggin thank you. I was surprised at first that it was a little girl but kids have tendencies to be mean no matter what these days. I am beginning to think that girls might be meaner than boys. A boy would have picked on him for something physical, long hair, way he dressed, etc. This little girl picked up on a disability and went with that. Very hurtful.

It is good that this was taken care of right away. One of my grandsons was tortured by a girl in his class for years and finally was taken out of that school since nothing was ever done to correct it.

We had another episode but we met with the principal. I hope that now it is taken care of. The principal spoke with the little girl and her parents.

@BelleStarr I do too. The principal recently got involved and they were supposed to contact the little girls family. He has not complained since then.

that is great. teachers are the second parents of a child, in school. any bullying should also be addressed to.

@Shellyann36 true, but i read some news feed on Facebook about some teachers who are cruel to their pupils to the point of slapping them until the pupils bleed.

Sounds like everything happens for a reason, and because this situation was brought up so early, the teacher at hand knew how to deal with it, and make it all work out for the Good.

I have no idea why, but I always expect little girls to be kinder to others. It's terrible she wasn't. I am so glad it has been taken care of. I was bullied terribly in 2nd grade and tried to get out of school every time I could. Bless your little Elijah's heart.

@AmbiePam I just don't understand kids. Of course, it was the same when I was younger. Little girls and boys can be very mean. I don't remember it starting in kindergarten though. I remember being picked on in higher grades.
