Maybe a Few More Furry Animals Can Breathe a Sigh of Relief

Finally, Gucci will be fur-free in 2018. No fur this-and-that from Gucci, for those who can afford Gucci. Gucci made the decision to go fur-free after a 10-year period of talks with humane societies and humane activists. Better late than never. HUGO BOSS, Dockers, Abercrombi &Fitz, Bass, Calvin Klein, Zappos, Wrangler, and many, many, many more companies that clothe humans are fur-free. The list of fur-free companies is huge. The fur-free companies are doing well and are fully aware that fur-free attire meets the needs of humans.
If you are a consumer who cares about stopping animal cruelty, avoid companies that use real animal fur. Check our list of brands, retailers and designers that don't use animal fur or are phasing it out.

I don't think there is a reason to test on animals or to wear their fur.

What I wonder is what happens with those garments made of fur long time ago? How about the mink coats of the rich?

There are companies that refurbish old fur coats. There will always be those who want fur coats, but I have a feeling that one day, there will be no more to be had. The list of companies that do not sell fur today just keeps growing, and the list has too many companies for me to count.

@Corbin5 I have a silver fox coat that my father gave to my mother maybe 40 years ago. I used it only once, when I was invited to a very cold place in winter and I was in chemotherapy. It is very light and warm and you can do nothing with it.

@marguicha I remember my mother had a fur coat too. You really did get valuable use out of your mother's coat.

I boycott Amazon because that company sells the leg-hold traps. Furs are sold far and wide.

I have read two days ago in the Italian newspaper. It's time to stop killing animals. They should also stop to pluck live geese to stuff those horrible winter jackets that have replaced the furs. Nothing comes without a negative side.

Anything we do to animals to benefit humans always involves cruelty, the majority of the time.

@Corbin5 It's horrible, so much has to be done to avoid animals abuse. Unfortunately some countries (like China), do nothing at all.

I agree. The wind and snow really can whip a person's face here. I have a coat with faux fur around the hood to protect my face, and the coat is quite nice looking.

@Corbin5 I have to confess, I can't tell one from another. I avoid furry stuff in general because they seem to get dirty faster than other materials.

Fur is something humans want to wear, but not what humans need.
