Not too diminish what Harvey did but this sort of behavior has been around for decades in and around film, music, politics, etc.
The problem is not just Weinstein or the movie industry.
Long have we heard about the Casting Couch. Remember that. Remember Marilyn Monroe. Terribly abused by Hollywood as well as the Kennedy's and there were so many others.
Strange that none of the media has brought up the Casting Couch.

It is sad what some actresses go through in order to make it in the movie industry. I think they feel like they have to keep their mouths closed or risk their career. It is not right.

For the longest time, they HAD to keep their mouth shut OR ELSE but now, the situation is finally opening up. Persons are coming out of the closet. However, the situation can also be abused. Persons can lie about being raped by famous, powerful and wealthy people.

Also, it is not just females who have been abused. Recently, I have read and heard of a well known male actor who wrote a book about being abused by a powerful man in the film industry. He claims that man still is powerful and is still active. This actor was a child star but us still famous as a young adult.
I was not all that familiar with him and I can not remember his name. I have heard nothing more about him since,
He never named the powerful older man.

@JohnRoberts _The "casting couch" is a business transaction between two consenting adults. it's the flip-side of the "honey-trap".

I am not certain that the casting couch was all that consensual. Young starlets may not have been forced but if they wanted to advance their careers, they had no choice.

And it has gone on a very long time. I think what we are hearing right now is just the tip of the iceberg. I think that a lot more will be coming.

It is unfortunate that for fame and fortune the route cannot just be all about hard work in some industries. Their is also the part of support, I believe that sometimes the silence apart from coming from threats maybe also from the fear of luck of support not on from family or friends but also the public in general.
