A spider in my hat?

I felt a strange sensation this morning in the shower. It felt like something was crawling behind my left ear.
I shampooed thoroughly and then went to work in Berkeley with the littlies.
In the sand box, with three or four 4-year-olds, I felt the same blasted sensation.
One of my kids said, "Horse, there's a spider on you!"
I had driven the dang thing to work, and it was now on my leg. I move it over to some bushes, saying something about spiders liking bushes better than people.
The think must have woken up with me, and made it through the shower. I'm glad it didn't decide to nibble on my ear.
Have you ever had anything like that happen?

No! Thank goodness. Back in the 60's there was a story in the paper about a young woman who had a fancy hair do all ratted up and sprayed. When she took it down she found a black widow spider in there. Ugh!

I've heard that story too, but didn't it turn out to be an urban legend?

@spiderdust Probably so. Black widows tend to hide during the day and come to look for tasty prey at night.

You're much calmer about it than I would have been. I have an irrational fear of spiders that I just can't quite shake.

@TheHorse Perhaps. I come from a family of etymologists, so I was surrounded by people who thought spiders and insects were cool, while I was just creeped out.

I live that part of the song from Nightmare Before Christmas, this is Halloween, where it goes, "Spiders in my hair" They are normally just baby daddy long legs but they just come out of nowhere at times and sometimes one decides to land on my head and when I get up I see a little baby spider just danging there.

@TheHorse I could never squish a spider. I still feel sad from the one spider I did squish a few years ago. Daddy long legs are harmless. If they get a bit too much we do try to get them out. But my home is kind of dilapidated... So there is no use trying to get them out all the time they find a way back in.

@DesirousDreamer I allow the mice to run free in my cabin in Montana. But I like to keep spiders out of my house here in my California Mansion.

I'd be in a panic if that happened to me but it's funny. I don't like big spiders, and I wouldn't like any spider to be on me except a tiny money spider, but I like them all when they stay in their corners and catch flies for me. I've been turning a blind eye to a few of them having babies in my house recently, I don't want them everywhere but I don't kill spiders so I definitely couldn't kill their children.
Last night I went on a half-asleep trip to the bathroom and I nearly got a mouthful of one that was abseiling from the bathroom door frame It's been living in the corner of the window for months, it must be looking for somewhere to lay some eggs now

No and that is just to weird! A spider that showered with you? Did it hide in your ear?
The worst I have had on me is a tick, two years now I have had a tick attach itself into my skin, once at the back of my hairline and another on my shin. I had to do antibiotic, the doctor said better safe than sorry.

Yes, I have when we owned an indoor dog. One day, I felt something on my forehead, then it bit me. A stupid flea had crawled out of my hair and then, decided to get some dinner! Of course, I did away with it, right away. I do wash my hair often, it amazed me that one stupid flea had moved in!:(

@TheHorse Spiders breathe through holes in their sides, not through lungs. As long as you didn't hold him/her underwater, it would survive a wetting such as a shower.
Edit: Hmmm... I am only partly correct. Some spiders have a different type of oxygen exchange system called book lungs.
Here:
Categories By Jenny Green; Updated April 24, 2017 Feared around the world for their venomous bites, spiders represent a fascinatingly diverse family and most are harmless. Members of the class Arachnida, spiders breathe through book lungs or trachea, which

@DaddyEvil But I thought I would have swiped him to the shower floor. I wonder where s/he hid.

Well at least it wasn't a Black Widow @TheHorse . And as a matter of fact; yes. Yesterday after coming in from 2 1/2 hours of Goat Weed pulling, I felt something under my T-shirt. I reached in and a bright, lime-green, 2-inch, Flying Grasshopper came out. I snatched him up and took him outside.

@TheHorse It was. At first I thought it was a spider. Imagine my surprise when I saw what it was.
