To-Do List vs. Reality

Do you sit down and write to-do lists for yourself for the upcoming day? Since I started keeping a Bullet Journal (who wants to know more about Bullet Journals?) I usually do. The night before I go to bed I make a checklist of things that I want to accomplish the next day. Now, not having to go to work until 4:50 or 5 most days now I have more time to get things done and felt ambitious last night. I had 6 things on todays to-do list and planned to get up and get started early. Well, you know what they say about the best laid plans..... Last night my youngest was sick with a stomach ache most of the night. Eventually he vomited and then felt good enough to sleep, but I wasn't able to sleep the rest of the night. I stayed in bed later than I intended today and have felt like poop. Guess how many of those to-dos got done today? I did 2 out of the 6! Now I'll have to move most of those to dos to tomorrow, and hope tonight is a better night. Do you write to-do lists? What do you do if your to-do plans fall through?

If I didn't write lists, I would never get anything done. I don't always do everything on my list for the day and when that happens, I just move it to the next day. If I don't get it done that day, I stop and think if it's really necessary, or if it should go on another list where I can do it in increments.

@nonersays Exactly. After awhile, I just take them off and consider they weren't very important anyway.

I don't write EVERYTHING down either. If I did I'd never finish writing the darn list. I find it comes in handy for those things I reach the end of the day and say, "Darn it, I forgot to do so-n-so" Most thing I'll move to the next day, and some things still go for weeks without getting done, depending on what it is.

If I don't write things down I forget some things. Like Making my dog's biscuits.

I always have a running to-do list on the fridge along with a grocery list. Hope you sleep better tonight.
