How well do those robot vacuum cleaners work?

Has anyone one of those robots that vacuum clean? Are they worth their price? I suppose you can't compare them with a real maid, but who can afford a maid?

I had a Roomba (a round thimg that vacuumed by itself), but I didn't like it. I worried that it would run over cords or wires and it took forever.

Did you need to recharge it often?

@1creekgirl I guess Roomba felt rejected then.

I can't answer your question as I don't have one, but I can't see that they'd be able to get into corners. They do seem to make nice cat toys, though.
Watch as this daft cat rides around the kitchen on a Roomba robot vacuum while a duckling runs around.

I would love one but I'm not sure I can justify spending that much money. I can still sweep my own floors and it only takes a couple of minutes. When I move in a couple of months I'll have even less square footage to deal with. Still, I would really like to have one if I ever play and win the lottery.

My daughter bought one. I prefer hands, but then she has no time.

i guess it can help halve the cleaning time. like you can let it run while you're doing something else, then you can do the finishing touches. but i guess you also have to check once in a while if it gets stuck somewhere.
