Do you "follow" people on mylot?

I am not really big on "following" people; that is hitting the FOLLOW button. If I want to read what people have posted I can go to their profile page and find it there. Or I can go and look at one of the lists. Or I can do a search. I don't actually have to "follow" them, to keep up with what they post, or to actually read it and interact. I think that unless you are planning on reading everything a member has already posted and will post in the future, there is no reason to "follow" him/her. The only advantage of "following" someone would be to not have to memorize his/her exact username or profile URL. And what does "following" someone actually do? Aside from seeing a list of all the people we have "followed" do we get notified when the person we "follow" posts something new? I haven't received or seen any of those notifications. Do you "follow" people on mylot? Do you have more "followers" than people you "follow"?

I do follow people here. Not a lot of them. But I do see a lot of new Mylotters who follow me, even if I do post a comment to their discussion.

I definitely have more followers (though not a high number) than people I follow.

I follow people from when I first joined, but havent followed anyone since 2 weeks later. My favorites are bookmarked to my phone, where i mylot from. And i go to most recents for everyone else.

I only "followed" some people because I was told that it looks bad when people go to my profile and see that I am not following anyone. And I followed those people that I see interacting on my posts frequently or enough times.

@Courtlynn It shouldn't matter but maybe it does to a point. I was wondering about this... I "followed" people and I never get notified that so and so posted a new discussion, etc. Thought maybe there are settings that you can update to receive or not receive these notifications. But seems they never send those to us.

@lovebuglena was never told that, nor do i think it matters as we dont get notified of new posts by them so no point to me

Yes, but you don't have to actually "follow" them to keep up with what they post and to connect with them. Of course, you have to remember their username and by "following" you don't have to worry about that.

Sometimes not all the time. But having more followers will increase attention to your post

I follow those from whom I expect posts similar or around my topics of interest. Rest of the time I am surfing the "Explore" tab.

This sounds like a good idea to follow someone who shares the same interests or writes about similar things as you.

You don't actually have to "follow" people to interact with them or see what they've posted, so doesn't really matter if you use the FOLLOW feature here.
