Yesterday a friend dropped off 7 huge bags of clothes to me. Her boyfriends ex left all her things there a year ago and never came back for them. He was going to throw them out but my friend saw how nice the things were and that the ex and I wear the same size so she gave me the bags.
Two bags were books by some of my favorite authors! There were some odds and ends like curtains but mostly all clothes.
The clothes were like new (some still with tags) all name brand and most all were my size. It felt like Christmas!
I gave a bag of books to a friend, a bag of clothes that were to small for me to a friend for her daughters, and a bag of clothes to my sister and her daughter that were to big for me or my daughter. The rest I will donate.
There omg eek part is all the gross things I found in the bags.. a few bite guards, stained undies, and an “adult” toy. Everything I am keeping is being washed. It’s about 5 loads of laundry to do.

EEk at some of that stuff. It reminds me of a commercial we have here. The sister (about 10) is handing all of her hockey gear over to her smaller brother. He is accepting it all until she hands him her mouth guard. "Ewww" he says "I'll get my own" laugh every time I see it.

That was good fortune for you and your friend, her family and your sister and her daughter! As far as the unmentionables go... gotta take the bad with the good.

I agree the gross stuff was worth weeding through as I got so many nice clothes I never could have afforded. I have been wearing old worn out, out of style clothes for years. My ex told me about a month ago I desperatly needed new clothes so this was ironic and awesome!

It has almost all been washed now that I kept. Hopefully the gross toy was at least washed when it was put away so that way when the boyfriend bagged it all up it wouldn't be as gross. The clothes smelled like laundry detergent at least.

Yes the only one who is at a loss in this situation is the girl but she left everything and never came back for it and expected him to save everything for her so its her own fault. I'm just lucky he didn't throw it out and my friend thought to give it to me!

Yes I got a great deal! Now hopefully a dog or bear doesn't rip the garbage bag open that would be humiliating for the garbage men to discover lol.

Well at least you got some nice things out of the deal. It's odd that she left all those things with her boyfriend unless she was so upset when she left that she didn't want to return even for her own things. The eek things sound minimal compared to having nice, new things.

@shaggin she probably forgot the photos were in the bags.
It sounds like she was either totally p-I'd with the guy when she left, or maybe a friend or family member was sick. It's still weird, though.

The eek part grossed me out but gave me a chuckle at the same time. It was worth for all those great clothes I now get to wear. I've been thinking the past few days that I don't recall seeing any recent posts of yours. I assume we are on at different times so when I look at post by those I'm following yours haven't shown. I wanted to see how your sons wedding went so I was intending to look through your posts soon.

@DianneN Sometimes when the notifications are a lot it can be overwhelming so I understand. You can always take a break rather then quit. I would miss your posts if you quit.
Yes I agree washing them is good enough and now I have an over abundance of clothes to choose from each day.

@shaggin Nothing a good wash can't do! I'd love a load of clothes, too. It must have been so exciting! I've been so busy with the wedding and the weeks following that all I could do was post here and there and try to catch up on notifications. That's been a losing battle. Sometimes I feel like quitting myLot. The wedding was awesome btw!!!!

It would cost me to much money to wash all those clothes I donated. It was about 5 loads to wash that I kept. With the cost of electric, oil, soap etc its about $3 for me to do each load of laundry. Anytime I buy anything used I wash it as you just never know. I'm sure other people do the same. If not they should. A friend of mines son who worker at the goodwill got bed bugs 3 times from working there ick!
