Stress at work

Well we had some excitement at work today and not the good kind. The school went on lockdown and when the announcement was made it was clear that it wasn't a drill. My students were very good and they all went into the corner and remained quiet. I was proud of them. After almost 15 minutes the principal came, unlocked the door, and said that we could resume things as normal. The students said that I looked totally freaked out throughout the whole thing. I had just been standing there quietly. I guess I don't have a good poker face. We later found out that there was an unauthorized parent on campus. I guess there was a restraining order or something. I'm just glad it wasn't anything more serious/dangerous. So that was the blood pressure elevation for the day.

That would have been scary not knowing what was going on. So glad to hear that things turned out well.

@NJChicaa I would imagine I would be the same way. You just never know anymore.

Five schools went on lockdown here a couple days ago due to a shooting involving teens in that area.

@mikaelajuliet this was our first real lockdown ever. I was just relieved that it was over so quickly

It is always a good idea to keep the children safe in a situation like that. That is why the school went on lockdown.
