When is it time to put the heating on?

The weather really feels like it turned cold this week. Summer was clinging on with her fingernails, but now autumn is well and truly here, and winter is looking over too. But I never know when to set the heating to automatic and let the radiators on. When do you put yours on?

I always try to wait as long as I can, because I don't like the heating bill! But it went on early this year. When the temperature drops in the house so I'm not comfortable even layering clothing, then it's time for some heat.

@peavey Same here!! Once the heating goes on, it’s then on until spring so I am loathe to start it!

We have more summer months than winter, so we use free standing heaters only on very cold nights. I sometimes long for central heating or a lovely fire place though.

Our heater is already on, usually from the beginning of October it is necessary to heat.

In the Philippines we never have those heaters because we have no winter and autumn. Seems a good climate there.

I have it set at a certain temperature so that when it goes below it will automatically heat up. If I'm cold then I either put more clothes on or turn up the heat. I am in complete control.

@1hopefulman That is a sensible way to have your heating set!
