Oct 21- Cool Beverage from dried fruit

Malaysia
October 21, 2017 5:16am CST
Luo Han Guo is actually a fruit grown in China which is initially green , round in shape, as large as a golf ball but light in weight. When it is dried, it turns brown, cracked open with palm of your hands, empty inside but a seed and dried pulp. This dried fruit is boiled with a pot of water without any sugar because it is naturally sweet. When water turns dark brownish, cool it off before drinking it. It is known to cool off body heat during hot weather. Popular beverage among the Chinese. Taste sweet and cooling. Have you tried this fruit? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Siraitia_grosvenorii my own photo

I did not even know the existence of this fruit of Chinese origin. However good thing that cools the body, during the hot summer season. I do not believe that, in Italy, it is marketed!

@peachpurple There are no Chinatowns in Italy, the only important Chinese community is in Milan (my native city).

@alberello75 No, I know nothing similar to this sold in Italy. I have made a search and this fruit is of the same group of vegetable as the cucumber, I have never seen them in Italy, not even in the Chinese quarter in Milano.

@peachpurple It does not grow in Europe. I am sure that there are local fruits that you do not have in Malaysia and Singapore.
