I'm wondering...

I'm sure you've all heard that we are supposed to eat five to ten fruits and vegetables a day. My question is: Is rice considered a vegetable in this case. I know it's a grain, but does it count in the 5 to 10 scheme of things? If it does, then I guess rice pudding would count, too. And what about mushrooms?

No, I don't think it counts as a vegetable. Eat the rice but still have your ten to twenty fruits and vegetables.

Five to ten, not ten to twenty.

@BarBaraPrz I see so many people sick these days. They are dying left and right and at a young age. Eat more fruits and vegetables. As far As I know, there are not many people dying because they ate more fruits and vegetables. I sometimes eat 12 fruits for a snack.

Rice pudding is a starch. Add some milk and raisins to it and it is more healthy. So you'll get some dairy and fruit in it. Mushrooms are healthy for you. Of course if they aren't part of a creamed soup. LOL.

@BarBaraPrz popcorn without butter is good for you. Try adding flavor to it such as garlic or a butter flavored powder that is specifically made for popcorn.

Can't stand raisins in my rice pudding. What's your stand on popcorn and potato chips?

Rice is a grain. Mushrooms would be a vegetable I believe. Rice pudding would be protein I think.

I know it's not a veggie, but was hoping I could cheat and count rice pudding. And how about chocolate? It comes from a bean...

I don't think Rice is a vegetable as it is a Starch. If you add Vegetables in it, then you have your vegetable. Mushrooms I would consider a vegetable though.

I don’t think rice would count as part of the required amount of fruits and vegetables to eat daily. I take multivitamins as I know I do not eat enough of anything I should during the day.
