what would you do after selling your business?

i just remembered a survey that went like this:
if you had a sideline that became a very successful business, then someone bought it for a huge amount of money, what would you do next?
the options were:
retire immediately and enjoy life
start a new, but different business
go back to school/enrol in classes
work for someone else to fill the hours/avoid getting bored
devote yourself to charity
first, i would enjoy the money by traveling a bit, even if it's just to explore my own country.
then i would probably set up a small business and/or work part-time.
so that i can also have time to enroll in classes and do charity works.
of course, i would make sure i've paid my debts and have insurance and wills in place.
how about you?

@hereandthere No, i don't know enough actually. But my retired cousin fro Meralco who is a high official there does and she has lots of stocks that made her earn a lt of profits. I will ask her to teach me what stocks to invest.

i think i'll divide the money into three banks. which stocks do you have in mind? do you know enough to invest by yourself?

@hereandthere Of course, you should put some money in a bank and not spend it all.

Just like when facebook buys whatssap and instagram; when jollibee buys mang inasal. When my business was bought buy an elite competitor, well i will enjoy my money and go around the world and do all the spas and wellness and relaxing all day.

@ilocosboy you can buy a big plot of land so you can have everything - fruits, vegetables, flowers, plants, pigs, chickens, pets and fish

I would put up another business instead of retiring or put up a charity work.

i think most of us would "enjoy" the money first, not being bound by work and chores and bills.

Firstly I don't want to sell my business. But If possible I am also of same opinion with the money I will travel places which I always dream of. Then start a side business.

starting another business serves two things, you have something to do and you're earning, too

I guess it depends on the amount of money it was sold for . . . and where I'm at in my life. If it was huge enough that I could retire if I wanted to . . . then really I could do all of those things (except I wouldn't want to work for someone else ). But money rarely lasts forever (unless it's some crazy huge amount), so knowing me I'd start up another little business to keep the income rolling in . . . but I'd want to manage the time so I can do what I want to do rather than be bogged down with a business.

I like your ideas. I do not see me ever retiring. I do not go to a place for my business. It is something I do on the computer and buy extra things to sell and I sell at a place so there is nothing for someone to buy. If I could retire I would relax and get up when I want and go to sleep when I want. But that is only a dream.

start a new but different business (why can't it be the same business? ).
