Early morning crazy

First time I've slept all night since my shoulder surgery. I took a pain pill at 11pm and didn't wake until 6am. The meds are keeping the pain pretty much under control, but the mental part is about to push me over the edge. I know it's hard for some people to understand and I feel like a wimp, but if you have Fibromyalgia, you know that the slightest pressure from things against your skin can be very painful. This heavy duty sling is doing its job. But some times I can barely keep from ripping it off. It gets on my nerves so bad that I just want to scream. Okay, I know it could be much worse and I feel guilty for complaining. I'm just having a little early morning pity party. My husband will soon be up and he'll fix me a nice breakfast. Our daughter called him yesterday and said, "Okay. How is Mama REALLY doing?" She knows I put the best spin on things. That's not always the best idea. But I do trust God to heal me. I'll be fine.

Oh, I get it. I get it! I know this is too much information, but I cannot stand the feeling of fabric touching my skin when I'm trying to sleep. It's like pin pricks to me.

@AmbiePam It seems to run in families. My mother had it, also my sister. Do you take anything particular for it? I usually do okay with Ibuprofen.

We all have our own ability to cope with pain. Sometimes a pain pill can be our best friend so that we can sleep and give our body the rest that it needs to continue healing. I'm glad that you got that rest last night. I didn't sleep much. I see the surgeon tomorrow and its weighing pretty heavy on my mind. I cried over it twice yesterday, just so scared as to what he's going to tell me. Now that you're rested I hope that you have a great day today!

@1creekgirl I have a growth, they haven't called it a tumor, but it is larger then a fibroid. I will find out tomorrow afternoon. Thanks for the prayers, I'll keep you in mine as well.

Thank you for your kind wishes. Do you know yet what the surgeon might be discussing tomorrow? Even if we don't know the details, God knows exactly and He will be right there with you. You will be in my prayers, as you will with many of our myLot friends.

I am very sorry, not everyone understands how much this thing can hurt. For how long you have to keep it?

@1creekgirl I know that it's long, I hope you will be in a less restrictive sling.

I have five more weeks in a sling, but I hope at some point to be in a less restrictive one. Then about three months to heal with limited restrictions, I hope.

I'm sorry you're having a few problems with your shoulder. It must be hard to be upbeat when you're hurting.

I feel a little better this morning. I'm off the high powered pain meds and on Ibuprofen and my regular sleeping pill. God is healing me.

I'm sorry for your friend. I usually manage okay, except for times like this when I've had surgery. But God is the great Healer.

Getting a full night's sleep is a step in the right direction that is for sure. I hope the healing comes sooner rather than later.

I slept good last night (even though it's still in a recliner) so I do feel a little better this morning.

I can understand your being frustrated with having to wear that heavy sling even though you know your shoulder is healing. It's not easy recuperating from surgery and having to rely on others. I'm sure as the days go by you'll start feeling better so hang in there
