Who do you consider to be the most famous and influential artist/performer in your state or country? In my state of New Jersey (USA) I consider Frank Sinatra to be the most famous and influential musician NJ has produced. I would also put Bruce Springsteen on an honorable mention list for current artists. How about you? Photo-www.sinatra.com/google images

Are you referring to someone born in a state or became identified with a state? LInda Ronstadt and the Eagles made California their base and identified with the 70s California sound but not natives. You in "Joisey" can also boast (?) Jon Bon Jovi and Southside Johnny.

It is your forum! Open to interpretation. My choices just happen to also be NJ born. Anyway, Eagles and Ronstadt are excellent choices in my book

It is open for debate, because we have three different genres vying for the title. Rock: the Everly Brothers. Bluegrass: Bill Monroe. Country: Loretta Lynn. You can make an argument for any of the three because people who don't know anything else about the music at least know their names. If I had to pin down one, I'd go with Monroe. He invented a genre of music (bluegrass), and even the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inducted him for his "early influence" on rock music. Great question!!!

Tony Bennett is a good one Alfredo! His heart is in San Francisco, but sure many loved his music. BTW-Tony is a personal friend of Lady GaGa. Now that is influence!

Well, Glenn Miller went to school here, Tommy Bolin moved here, John Denver obviously loved Colorado, but Earth, Wind & Fire vocalist Phillip Bailey was born here, so I'll go with him.

@dgobucks226 - My favorite was a Denver band called The Czars. They were produced by Simon Raymonde from the Cocteau Twins and toured Europe a few times, but really never made it over here. John Grant, the vocalist, has a beautiful voice.

Oh great pick for New Jersey there. :-) Ol' blue eyes. Did a great job acting too in "Manchurian Candidate". For Minnesota it would have to be either Prince, or Bob Dylan - though I don't think Dylan "was from" here, only lived here a bit. I think. I would have to look that up.

I'd have to say that Sinatra and Springsteen or Bon Jovi would be pretty evenly matched. Both have global appeal, but Springsteen stayed true to his roots while Sinatra left and rarely returned except to perform. Bon Jovi's family (Bongiovani) are still here.

The most famous musician/singer/songwriter that was actually born in Montreal has to be Leonard Cohen. Probably his best known song is Hallelujah which has been covered by so many other artists.

Those are fantastic picks. One Canadian's music I really enjoy is Gordon Lightfoot, who I know is in the Canadian Hall of Fame.

I am familiar with Alabama. That is a great choice I did see Ruben Studdard on Idol. I think Alabama had more influence on the music scene (just my opinion).
